What we know

What we know comes from HOBOT's page and buyer reviews on RobotWorld buyers, a Czech retailer. Those buyers liked doing less reaching and scrubbing, and one used it on bathroom tiles right up to the ceiling. The most detailed review was less happy with outside windows: they weren't fully clean, the pads needed changing often and circular marks showed in sunlight. HOBOT's page covers the spinning pads, the modes and the sensors.

What HOBOT claims

HOBOT says two microfibre-covered cleaning wheels turn at up to 70rpm, copying the way you'd wipe glass by hand, while a pump holds it on and sucks up dust. It works across the pane from top to bottom, checks itself before each clean and has three automatic modes. HOBOT lists edge detection and a pressure sensor, but no water spray.

Less effort, not perfect glass

Buyers on RobotWorld buyers like having less to do and being able to rerun a clean with the remote. One used it on bathroom and toilet tiles that go up to the ceiling. The most detailed review said not to expect a 100% clean window, especially outside, that the pads needed changing often, and that sunlight showed circular marks where it had travelled. That buyer was still glad not to have to scrub.

No spray, unlike its siblings

Its round-pad siblings, the 388 and R3, have ultrasonic nozzles that mist water ahead of the pads. HOBOT's 368 page doesn't mention a spray or a water tank at all. That makes it a simpler, drier cleaner, which may explain the circular marks one buyer on RobotWorld buyers saw outside. If you mostly clean outside glass, a model with a spray is the safer bet.

What's not checked yet

We found no finished independent test of the 368, and the RobotWorld buyers reviews are buyer reviews on a retailer's site, in Czech. So the open questions are how well it really cleans, especially outside, how loud it is, and whether the edge detection, pressure sensor and backup battery that HOBOT lists keep it safely on the glass. How long the pads last is only known from one buyer.

Our take

Should you buy the 368?

Best for: High indoor glass or tiles that mainly need a dry wipe. Skip it if: You need to remove stubborn marks from long-neglected glass.

Hard to recommend over HOBOT's own R3, which does the same job with a built-in spray and has been tested three times. If you only want a dry wipe on high tiles or glass indoors, owners say the 368 takes the strain off. For outside windows, pick a tested robot with a spray, like the R3 or the Ecovacs WINBOT mini 2.

The 368 is one of HOBOT's round-pad window robots. Instead of tracks, it moves on two spinning pads covered in microfibre, turning at up to 70rpm to mimic wiping by hand, while a fan holds it against the glass. It has a single start button, an app and a remote. Unlike its siblings the 388 and R3, HOBOT's page lists no water spray, so it wipes with whatever moisture is on the pads.

It plugs into the wall, with a battery that only holds it on the glass for 20 minutes if the power goes, and you move it between panes yourself. Round pads also struggle to reach square corners. Buyers like doing less reaching and scrubbing, but outside glass doesn't come up fully clean, the pads need changing often and circular marks can show in sunlight.

The questions people ask about this one

Will it work on frameless glass?

HOBOT's page doesn't say. It lists automatic edge detection and an anti-falling routine, per the specifications, but we couldn't find anyone who has tried it on frameless glass.

What happens if the power cuts out?

HOBOT says a built-in battery holds it on the glass for 20 minutes while an alarm sounds, and its 4.5m rope is rated to 200kg, per the specifications. None of that has been tested independently.

Does it leave streaks or edges?

No reviewer has tested it. A buyer on RobotWorld buyers saw circular marks on outside glass when the sun hit it, and said the windows didn't come out fully clean. Round pads also can't reach into square corners, so plan to finish by hand.

Do I need a special cleaning fluid?

HOBOT's page lists no water tank or spray, per the specifications, so there's nowhere to put cleaning fluid. A buyer on RobotWorld buyers said the pads needed changing often.

Can I use it on upstairs outside windows?

HOBOT says to always tie its 4.5m safety rope to something indoors, and you need a socket within reach of its 4m cord, per the specifications. A buyer on RobotWorld buyers found it did a worse job outside than in.

HOBOT R3
HOBOT

R3

Why consider it: Its narrow body suits slim panes, it adds a two-nozzle spray, and CHOICE found it made a real dent in dirty windows.

The compromise: Its round pads couldn't get properly into the corners, and it came off the glass once in testing.

HOBOT 388
HOBOT

388

Why consider it: Two tests got clear, streak-free glass from a dry pass then a wet one with its fine mist.

The compromise: It's slow, loud, tied to a socket and leaves the corners.

ECOVACS WINBOT mini 2
ECOVACS

WINBOT mini 2

Why consider it: A compact square robot whose corner brushes aim to reach the frame.

The compromise: It's also mains-powered and loud, and you stand beside it while it works.
