What we know

The details here come from iGarden and iGarden. iGarden's big claim is runtime: up to seven hours on the floor alone, from a battery that's the only difference between it and its K36 and K90 siblings. It has a 4-litre basket with two filters, a touchscreen and an app, and it scrubs the walls and waterline. The pages calling themselves reviews just repeat the spec sheet.

Long runs are the main claim

iGarden quotes up to 7 hours of floor-only cleaning, 3.75 hours for a full floor, wall and waterline clean, and less in turbo mode. A full charge takes about five hours. You can set runs of one, one and a half or two hours, or until the battery runs low, and a timer can repeat runs every 24, 48 or 72 hours.

Touchscreen or app, not underwater

You pick the mode on the robot's touchscreen or in the app, per iGarden: floor only, walls and waterline only, walls first then floor, or everything. The app works over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, but iGarden says it can't connect once the robot is underwater, so set things up before you drop it in.

Two filters and a big basket

The 4-litre basket takes a 180-micron filter for leaves and a 50-micron filter for fine dust, and you can use both together for cloudy water, per iGarden. iGarden says to empty and rinse it after every run, and claims it scrubs up to 5cm above the waterline. iGarden calls the K70 an upgrade of the older K60 and K80, but doesn't say what changed.

What's not checked yet

No magazine, lab or independent blog has run it in a real pool, and we couldn't check what the YouTube videos show, so everything above is iGarden's, from iGarden and iGarden. Still open: whether it really runs for seven hours, how well it picks up leaves and fine dirt, how it climbs walls and scrubs the waterline, and how reliable the app connection is by the pool.

Our take

Should you buy the K70?

Best for: Regularly shaped pools needing floor and wall cleaning. Skip it if: You want a stronger record in independent tests before buying.

wait for an independent test before buying on the runtime claims. For a tested cordless robot now, the Aiper Scuba X1 is good on floors and fine dirt, the MOVA Diver A10 runs a long time on a charge, and the WYBOT C2 is a simpler option two testers found effective.

The K70 is the middle of iGarden's cordless K Series, which replaced the earlier K60 and K80. It shares its body, filter and cleaning modes with the K36 and K90, and the only difference is the battery, which iGarden says gives up to seven hours of floor-only cleaning. It cleans the floor, walls and waterline, and you start it from a touchscreen on the robot or from the app.

The runtime, suction and route-planning figures are iGarden's own. It cannot talk to the app while underwater, so settings have to be chosen before it goes in, and it weighs just under ten kilos dry, so lifting it out takes some effort. You empty and rinse the 4-litre basket after every run. The K Pro 150 is a separate series, not a bigger K70.

The questions people ask about this one

Does it climb walls and clean the waterline?

iGarden says so: it has a walls-and-waterline mode and claims to reach up to 5cm above the waterline, per the specifications. Nobody has tested how well it actually scrubs off a scum line yet.

Is it cordless, and how long does a charge last?

Yes. iGarden claims up to 7 hours of floor-only cleaning and 3.75 hours for a full clean, from a 7.5Ah battery that takes about five hours to charge, per the specifications. No independent tester has checked either figure.

Will it work in an above-ground pool?

iGarden lists in-ground and above-ground pools up to 6 × 12m, in concrete, vinyl, fibreglass, tile or steel, with water from 1m to 2.5m deep, per the specifications. That 1m minimum depth rules out very shallow pools.

How do I clean the filter?

Empty the 4-litre basket after each run and hose it out, per the specifications. Use the 180-micron filter for leaves and the 50-micron one for fine dust, or both together for cloudy water. We don't know yet how fiddly the basket is in practice.

Does it need an app?

No. You can start it and pick a mode from the touchscreen on the robot, per the specifications. The app adds remote start and monitoring, but only while the robot's out of the water.

Aiper Scuba X1
Aiper

Scuba X1

Why consider it: A tested cordless all-rounder with a charging dock that testers agree is good on floors and fine dirt.

The compromise: Testers disagree on how much bigger debris it leaves, and its fine filter is a chore to clean.

MOVA Diver A10
MOVA

Diver A10

Why consider it: A tracked cordless robot with a long claimed battery life that testers found cleans the floor, walls and waterline thoroughly.

The compromise: Shallow ledges and steps can trip it up, and recharging takes around five hours.

WYBOT C2
WYBOT

C2

Why consider it: A simpler cordless robot that two testers found effective on everyday debris across floor, walls and waterline.

The compromise: A third tester found its suction weak.
