Our take
Fourier GR-2
A capable research humanoid with a clearer engineering purpose than consumer proposition. It makes sense for labs exploring locomotion and manipulation; there is little reason for a household buyer to consider it.
Technical reviews highlight the full-size platform, improved joints and hands, and its usefulness as a programmable research base.
Pricing and availability are specialist, autonomy depends on the developer and there is little evidence of long-duration unsupervised deployment.

What the evidence shows
GR-2 is a development platform focused on stronger actuation and more flexible manipulation. Its specification is useful for a robotics team, but does not describe a finished household service.
The hands and upper body are central
Fourier’s model documentation highlights its actuator system, dexterous hands and more open development platform. Different end-effector and joint configurations matter to the tasks a researcher can attempt.
[1]Capability must be demonstrated on the intended task
A high joint count or a more capable hand does not establish that the complete robot can autonomously tidy or carry out care work. The available official overview does not supply independent owner reliability or maintenance evidence, so our recommendation is limited to project evaluation.
[1]Available evidence describes the platform; it does not establish everyday household ownership or long-term reliability.
