One of the more convincing therapeutic companion concepts because the goal is deliberately narrow: comfort, touch and responsive behaviour rather than pretending to be a general-purpose pet. The main issue is still delivery and long-term support, not the basic idea.
Hands-on CES coverage finds the movement, weight, warmth and touch responses unusually convincing for an animatronic companion aimed at older adults and people who cannot care for a live animal.

What reviewers found
Jennie has impressed a hands-on demonstrator with its lifelike responses, but Tombot’s checked site still describes preparations for first deliveries. Demonstration reactions should not be presented as established home ownership.
What the hands-on encounter showed
At CES 2026, Entertainment Hollywood’s reviewer found the head movements, blinking, tail wagging and responses to petting convincing. Puppy sounds contributed to that impression. This is useful evidence of the experience of interacting briefly with Jennie, not a measured treatment effect or proof of sustained benefit at home.

Tombot’s current page says its first litter is sold out and that it is preparing puppies for their homes, with a waitlist for later pricing and availability. That wording is more precise than treating a reservation or an enthusiastic testimonial as evidence of an established owner base.

The demonstration report describes app customization, updates and overnight charging. It does not follow a household through months of handling, cleaning or repairs. The meaningful unanswered questions are how Jennie holds up with repeated use and what support looks like after delivery. Those cannot be resolved from a short show-floor interaction.
