What changes the decision

Think about when you want the pool clean. If you need another cycle soon after the first, recharge time matters. If you clean less often, a battery model may be easier to store and carry than a cleaner with a long cable. Check the length of the actual floor-and-wall programme, since the longest advertised runtime may refer to another mode.

Plan how you will get it out. Poolside parking, a retrieval hook and lifting the cleaner from a deep end are very different experiences. Check what happens when the battery is empty, what accessory is included and how heavy the cleaner is before the water drains out. Never assume an app will still control it underwater.

Check the filter supplied in the box. A basket that catches leaves may let finer material through, and an extra filter can change the cost. Maytronics’ LIBERTY manual shows different filter and accessory packages within one cordless range. The model number matters even when the robots look similar.

Before ordering, ask who handles battery repairs and whether replacement filters and brushes are sold in your country. Follow the manual for drying the charging connection, charging location and storage. A cordless cleaner should make pool care easier, not leave you searching for a proprietary part after one season.

Buying in your market: Australia

Prioritise pool construction, leaves versus fine dust, wall coverage and the effort of lifting a wet cleaner. Follow the product’s water-temperature and storage requirements rather than assuming it can stay beside the pool in all weather. Verify local filters and battery service before choosing a cordless design.

Compare Australian listings in AUD, checking GST, delivery and the exact bundle at checkout. Delivery to a regional postcode can differ from a metro offer. A US-dollar price or a retailer willing to export is not evidence of Australian stock or local service.

Ask where repairs are performed and who pays freight for a bulky robot or dock. Confirm the supplied power equipment and locally available consumables. Our price records identify their market and date; they are not a guarantee that today’s stock or promotion remains the same.

Two reviewers found it cleans strongly, but scheduling and collecting it still take effort.

What reviewers found: Both reviewers were impressed by how the camera steers it to debris.

Limitations and uncertainties: Scheduling, cleanup and the short pickup window frustrate, and it’s too early to say how long it lasts.

Dolphin LIBERTY 600

Catalogue status · local delivery must be confirmed: Available now

A powerful cordless Dolphin with excellent debris pickup and useful extra runtime for large pools. Early owners like the cleaning, but the robot is heavy and its young navigation/app software can waste battery or miss complex shapes.

What people like: Owners praise strong suction, a very effective debris basket and enough battery to clean large pools in a single floor-focused cycle.

Common complaints: It is heavy to lift, can waste time pushing against walls or shutters, and some owners report missed areas in kidney-shaped pools plus unreliable app connectivity.

Catalogue status · local delivery must be confirmed: Available now

The camera found leaves well in an independent test, but coverage varies in owners’ pools.

What reviewers found: In a test, the camera steered it straight to leaves and cleared them well.

Limitations and uncertainties: Steps and some rounded corners still trip it up, and it’s too early to say how long it lasts.

Start with the pool, not the robot

Record pool dimensions, maximum depth, liner or surface material, steps, ledges and the shape of the floor. Confirm those features against the exact model’s manual. A cleaner advertised for a large pool may still be unsuitable for a particular liner, shallow shelf or tight corner.

Above-ground compatibility should be explicit. Do not assume a wall-climbing cleaner can safely work on every flexible-sided pool. Ask the manufacturer about unusual constructions before purchase and keep its answer with the order details.

Match filtration to the debris

Leaves need basket capacity and an intake that resists blocking. Fine dust needs suitable filtration, and the smallest quoted particle size is useful only when the filter specification is clearly sourced. Check whether a finer insert is included or sold separately.

Read reports about coverage consistency, not just the appearance of one clean patch. Stairs, benches and corners may still need a brush. A pool robot removes physical debris; it does not replace the pool’s normal circulation, water testing or chemical treatment.

Cordless convenience has a trade-off

Cordless models remove a trailing power cable but add charging, battery ageing and retrieval planning. Compare the complete cycle plus recharge time with how often the pool needs cleaning. A maximum runtime claim alone cannot establish full coverage.

Corded models can suit frequent cleaning if cable handling and a suitable power arrangement are manageable. Follow the manual for electrical placement, use and swimmer restrictions. In both designs, check wet lifting weight, drainage and the accessibility of the basket before buying.

Keep maintenance realistic

Choose a model you can retrieve safely from your actual pool edge. Check whether a hook, app-controlled parking or another retrieval method is needed and whether accessories are included. A heavy cleaner can be awkward even when its cleaning performance is strong.

Rinse filters as directed, inspect tracks and brushes, and verify local replacement-basket and battery support. Follow water-temperature and storage requirements. The cheapest purchase can become expensive if a proprietary filter or sealed battery is unavailable in your market.
