The Gadgeteer described successful surface-debris collection during extended tests. Tom’s Guide found small floating material easier than leaves, which were sometimes pushed aside. A dissatisfied owner also described floating debris being displaced. The sensible expectation is reduced skimming work with results dependent on the actual debris, not a guarantee that a net will never be needed.

The Gadgeteer reported successful navigation around obstacles and depth changes. In contrast, an owner of a kidney-shaped pool with sloping sides reported missed floor areas near steps and along one side, plus no useful step or ledge coverage. Those are genuinely different outcomes; the available reports do not prove that a firmware setting resolves every such case.

Tom’s Guide recorded long sessions and welcomed automatic surfacing and draining at the end. Its double basket could be separated and rinsed after use. Phone commands were available when the robot reached the surface, with underwater connectivity limited. These conveniences make repeated cleaning easier, while you still handle the baskets, recharge the robot and deal with unreachable areas.

The premium is easiest to justify when you need both submerged cleaning and some surface collection. The disappointed owner also struggled to resolve the problem between the dealer and manufacturer. That single case cannot measure overall service quality, but confirming which seller handles returns is useful when testing an expensive cleaner in a complex pool.
