Deebot X12S OmniCyclone
Ecovacs's 2026 update to its bagless roller-mop flagship. Early testers rate the mopping and hair handling very highly, but it only gets over low door bars and needed help mapping around mirrors.
The short version
The X12S OmniCyclone is the refresh of last year's X12 OmniCyclone, and it sits at the top of Ecovacs's range. It mops with a long roller that's rinsed as it goes, sprays tough stains before scrubbing them, and empties into a bagless dock, so there are no dust bags to buy. Ecovacs claims more suction than the X12, a longer roller and a dock that also cleans and dries its own dirty-water tank.
The trade-off is climbing. Ecovacs claims it handles single steps of about 2.5cm, and one tester found that's roughly the limit, so homes with tall door bars should look elsewhere. It's also nearly 10cm tall. At $2,999 it costs noticeably more than the X12, which is still on sale.
Ecovacs also lists an X12S Pro Omni, which uses a dock with dust bags. This page covers the bagless OmniCyclone only.
Our take: Buy it if you have hard floors that get messy, a long-haired pet or family, and flat thresholds, and you'd rather empty a bin than buy dust bags. If you have door bars higher than about 2.5cm, a Roborock Saros 20 climbs far better. If you just want the roller mop and bagless dock, the older X12 OmniCyclone is cheaper and may be enough.

What reviewers found
Three home tests so far: BGR in a house with a toddler and a baby, CyberShack over a couple of weeks in Australia, and home&smart in Germany. All three rate the cleaning highly, especially the mopping and hair handling. BGR and CyberShack both had to fix the first map by hand because of mirrors. home&smart singled out the low climbing limit as its main weakness.

The roller mop is the highlight
CyberShack found it picked up stains other robots miss, and BGR called it excellent at mopping everyday messes. BGR did find some really stuck-on stains left behind, even with the pre-spray. home&smart liked that the roller extends past the body for edges and is washed in hot water after each run. For a kitchen or hallway that gets grubby daily, this is the reason to buy it.
Strong vacuuming, no hair tangles
BGR saw little debris left on hard floors or carpet, and CyberShack reported minimal dust left behind on either. home&smart ran it daily for a week in a home with shoulder-length hair plus added pet hair, and the brush was still spotless afterwards. If you're tired of cutting hair off brushes, this is a strong reason to shortlist it.
Mapping needs a helping hand
BGR spent a good while editing the first map, because the robot struggled with mirrors and merged rooms, and felt other brands map better. CyberShack also had to correct the map for floor-length mirrors, but after that found it approached walls and furniture carefully and steered round cables and loose objects. Plan to spend some time on the map at the start, especially if you have large mirrors.
Low door bars only
home&smart found it only gets over thresholds up to about 2.4cm, like its predecessor, and called it ideal for large homes without thresholds. Ecovacs claims up to 5cm for two-step obstacles, but none of the three testers reported measuring that. If you have raised door bars between rooms, check their height before buying.
Bagless dock, with a dusty catch
CyberShack found the bagless bin easy to empty but said dust can escape, and suggested doing it outdoors. BGR liked not buying bags but found the app poor at telling you when the bin is full. BGR also felt the app advertised other products a little too often, while CyberShack found it responsive and easy to use.

How does it handle rugs and door bars?
Door bars are the weak spot. home&smart found it tops out at about 2.4cm, and the maker claims about 2.5cm for a single step, per the specifications. CyberShack saw it avoid rugs at first, then clean them once it had learned the floor types.
Does it fit under low furniture?
Only if the gap is roughly 10cm or more. It's 9.8cm tall, per the specifications, so it's about the same height as most robots with a laser turret and much taller than slimline rivals. Measure under your sofa and bed first.
What's it like living with a bagless dock?
No bags to buy, but emptying is hands-on. CyberShack found dust can escape when you empty the bin and suggested doing it outside. BGR found the app poor at warning you when the bin is full, so check it yourself every so often.
Will it avoid cables and pet mess?
CyberShack found it steered round cables and loose objects once the map was fixed. Nobody has published a proper pet-mess test yet, so until someone does, pick up anything you don't want run over.
Is it worth it over the X12 OmniCyclone?
Maybe not for everyone. BGR felt the price gap may not justify upgrading, though it liked the stronger suction, pre-spray and longer roller. home&smart noted the X12S has the same low climbing limit as its predecessor.
