The short version
The X3 Gen 2 is the entry model in Sunseeker's X Gen 2 range, below the all-wheel-drive X5 and X7. It works out where it is from satellites, with corrections sent over mobile data so there's no aerial to put up, and cameras help it see the lawn and dodge things. It's rated for lawns up to 800m² and 30% slopes, with its front wheels driving. A small second blade disc on the side is meant to trim within 3cm of the edge.
The trade-off is that it's simpler than its bigger siblings. You set the cutting height with a dial rather than in the app, it has no night camera or lights, and it's rated for gentler slopes. The mobile data service is free for two years, then needs an annual subscription. The one tester found the edge disc didn't stop it leaving corners and borders uncut.
Our take: Worth a look if you have a fairly flat, open lawn of a few hundred square metres and want wire-free mowing without an aerial. Only one test exists so far, and it liked the setup and the cut in the middle of the lawn. If you want tidy edges, the Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000 has a better-proven edge disc. If your garden is shaded, a laser-guided mower such as Sunseeker's own X4 avoids relying on satellites.

Only one independent test so far. IOTDomotica, a Dutch site that had already tested the bigger X7 Gen 2, used the X3 Gen 2 for some time on a small lawn with no obstacles along its borders. It found setup quick, the app good and the systematic lanes a big step up from its old boundary-wire mower. Its main complaint was the finish at the edges: corners were cut off and strips left along the borders, despite the extra edge disc. Nobody has tested the slope claim.

Quick setup, no aerial
IOTDomotica had the lawn mapped successfully within ten minutes, helped by lessons learned on the X7 Gen 2: start the mapping from a corner of the lawn next to the dock. There's no aerial to site, because satellite corrections arrive over mobile data, per the specifications. The app worked well, with editable, saveable maps and automatic firmware updates, though IOTDomotica would like to edit schedules for several days at once.
Tidy lanes, poor corners
In the open, IOTDomotica was pleased: it mows row by row and finished its lawn in about 20 minutes, where the old wire-guided mower wandered at random for over two hours. The edges were the letdown. Even set to mow close, it left a strip along the border and cut corners off early, leaving tufts, although the test lawn had nothing beside it to avoid. Sunseeker claims the edge disc reaches within 3cm, per the specifications. The tester hopes a software update will help.
Simpler than its bigger siblings
Cutting height is set with a dial, 20–60mm, which IOTDomotica didn't mind because it keeps one height everywhere. It has no lights or night vision, so the tester advises mowing in daytime, which also protects hedgehogs. It avoided clearly visible obstacles in the test. With front-wheel drive and a 30% slope rating, per the specifications, IOTDomotica suggests the all-wheel-drive X5 or X7 for hilly gardens or ditch banks.

Does it need a boundary wire?
No wire and no aerial. It uses satellite positioning with corrections sent over its built-in 4G module, plus cameras, per the specifications. IOTDomotica had its lawn mapped within ten minutes, though it recommends starting the mapping from a corner of the lawn next to the dock.
Will it cope with my slope?
It's rated for 30%, per the specifications, with its front wheels driving and a steering wheel at the back. IOTDomotica's lawn was flat, so the limit is untested. For steeper gardens, the tester points to the all-wheel-drive X5 or X7, which are rated for much more.
How close does it cut to the edge?
Sunseeker claims 3cm with the side edge disc, per the specifications. IOTDomotica found reality short of that: even in close-edge mode it left a strip along the border and tufts in the corners, on a lawn with nothing beside it to avoid. Keep the strimmer.
Is there a subscription for 4G or anti-theft?
Yes, after two years. Sunseeker includes 24 months of the network satellite service and 4G, then charges an annual renewal, and it's needed to keep using the mower, per the specifications. IOTDomotica thinks that's reasonable given the running costs of the service.
How noisy is it for neighbours?
Sunseeker quotes 60dB, per the specifications. IOTDomotica didn't measure noise, but because the X3 Gen 2 has no night vision, it recommends mowing during the day anyway, roughly late morning to afternoon, to avoid dew and wildlife.
