Sunseeker's entry-level camera-guided mower for small, simple lawns up to 600m². You put the dock down and it starts mowing with no mapping, and it dodges obstacles well, but small dips in the lawn can trap it.

The short version
The V3, sold as the V3 ReadyGo in the US, is the small, cheap end of Sunseeker's wire-free range. It has no boundary wire, no aerial and no map. Two cameras on the front find the edge of the lawn and anything in the way, and it mows in a random pattern until the battery runs low, then heads home to charge. Magnetic strips in the box mark flowerbeds or open edges it can't see, and magnetic tags let it cross a path to a second patch.
The trade-off is control. With no map, you can't send it to one corner or draw no-go zones in the app, and it only works in daylight. There's no GPS tracking if it's stolen, just a PIN on the keypad. It likes a flat, well-kept lawn: both testers had it caught in small dips. For a bigger lawn, Sunseeker sells the V3 Plus, rated for 1,000m² with a larger battery, and the X3 Plus, which maps the garden using satellite positioning.
Our take: Buy it for a small, flat lawn with clear edges such as fences, paths or walls, if you want a mower that works out of the box and never needs a map. If your lawn is bumpy, dug up by pets, or has open edges into beds, expect to lay magnetic strip and give it the odd nudge. If you want a map, zones and theft tracking, look at the eufy E15 or the Segway Navimow i1 instead.

What reviewers found
Two home tests, and they agree on most things. Trusted Reviews used it on a flat UK lawn edged by plants, and techreviewer.de tested it on a garden in Germany. Both had it running within minutes, and both rate its obstacle spotting highly. Both also saw it get caught in small dips, though it usually wriggled free. They split on the edges: Trusted Reviews had to finish them with a trimmer, while techreviewer.de found it followed borders closely. Both miss having a map.

Mowing within minutes, but no map
This is the V3's big selling point. Trusted Reviews simply fixed the dock to the lawn, plugged it in and started it from the app, with no setup at all. techreviewer.de went from unboxing to first cut in under 15 minutes, though it broke two of the plastic ground pegs on hard clay and suggests tapping them in gently. The catch is that there's no map. You can't send it to a patch or block an area in the app; you lay magnetic strip instead, and techreviewer.de found the bright green strips and tags stand out in a tidy garden.
Very good at avoiding things
Both testers were impressed here. Trusted Reviews watched it skirt around balls, stop and steer round the reviewer walking on the lawn, and ease past a neighbour's cat. techreviewer.de found it reliably spotted toys and stray branches, with a bump sensor as a backstop that makes it stop, back up and turn. The weak spot is tall weeds and overgrown kerbs, which techreviewer.de found could confuse the cameras, so keep the edges trimmed. Sunseeker says it's designed to mow in daylight only.
Small dips can catch it
Both reviewers had it stuck in hollows. On Trusted Reviews's lawn, holes dug by cats caught it; it rocked its wheels back and forth to free itself but sometimes needed a nudge, and filling the dips fixed it. techreviewer.de found it coped with bumps and only occasionally got stuck in small dips, always freeing itself. Neither had trouble on flat ground. If your lawn is lumpy or pets dig it, level the worst spots before you buy.
Edges: the testers disagree
Trusted Reviews wasn't impressed at the edges. With a narrow cutting disc set in the middle of the body, it had to go round the border with a trimmer, and it says the Husqvarna 305E Nera cuts much closer. techreviewer.de found it tracked lawn edges with pleasing precision, getting to about 5cm at the lowest edge-distance setting. The difference may be the border: plants on one lawn, and the app's setting on the other. There's also a ride-on-edge option for flat paths.
Random pattern, short runs, quiet
It mows in a random pattern rather than stripes. Trusted Reviews found that covered its lawn evenly with no missed tufts, and techreviewer.de saw no unmown patches either, though it misses a neat striped look. techreviewer.de got about 65 minutes per charge; it heads home at 30%, charges for about half an hour and carries on, which worked every time. Both found it very quiet, and techreviewer.de rinses it clean from underneath with a hose.

The questions people ask about this one
Does it need a boundary wire?
No. Its two cameras recognise the edge of the lawn, per the specifications. Where there's no clear border, or around flowerbeds, you peg down the magnetic strip from the box. Trusted Reviews had to lay some to stop it cutting wild flowers, and it turned around as soon as it reached the strip.
Will it cope with my slope?
Sunseeker claims 42%, or 22 degrees, per the specifications. techreviewer.de reports it handled inclines easily but didn't give a measured angle. Dips are the bigger worry: both it and Trusted Reviews saw it caught in small hollows, so it suits a flat, even lawn best.
Can it handle two lawns or a narrow passage?
Yes, with help. You place the two magnetic tags on either side of a path, pointing at each other, and it crosses to the next area, as Trusted Reviews describes. techreviewer.de found it got through its garden's narrow passages without trouble. It can't follow a route you draw, because there's no map.
What happens when it rains?
It has a rain sensor, and Trusted Reviews found a setting for how long it waits after rain before going out again. It's rated IPX5 against water, per the specifications, and techreviewer.de cleans it by rinsing the underside with a hose.
Is there a subscription for 4G or anti-theft?
There's no subscription, but there's little theft protection either. techreviewer.de notes it has no GPS or SIM, so it can't be tracked, and relies on a PIN typed on the keypad. Trusted Reviews found no mobile-data option, though Sunseeker's US store now lists 4G as an option.
