Three tests, all positive on the mopping and the mop-swapping dock. Vacuum Wars bought one and ran it against the cheaper L50 Ultra in the lab. TechRadar lived with it at home and in a village hall. T3 called it the best robot vacuum the reviewer had tested. They disagree on navigation and battery: the home testers found it outstanding, while Vacuum Wars measured slow coverage and short range. Carpet is good rather than great, and the dock's size is the recurring complaint.

Separate mops for separate rooms
Vacuum Wars saw pad switching work across two floor plans, apart from one error that a restart cleared. TechRadar had no dock problems at all. Giving each room its own pads means you're not wiping the bathroom and kitchen with the same set, though it can't promise nothing ever carries over. It's most useful if you'd otherwise be swapping pads between rooms yourself.
Excellent mopping
Vacuum Wars scored it 136 on dried-on stains, well ahead of the L50 Ultra's 90 and above average, and even better on their newer, harder stain test. TechRadar found smooth, even results with no streaks and no trouble with spilt milk. Deeply ingrained or sticky messes still took some work. T3 described the result as closer to a proper floor wash than a quick wipe.
Good on hair, patchy on carpet
Vacuum Wars recorded zero tangles in their long-hair test and 92% pickup of flattened pet hair, but only 80% in its carpet deep-clean test, against 90% for the L50, and nothing in its crevice test. TechRadar found it collected lots of Labrador hair but left more oats, rice and pasta on a rug than their Roborocks did. T3 was happier. It keeps up with daily carpet cleaning; it won't replace a proper vacuum.
Good home mapping, slower in the lab
TechRadar called the mapping the best it had seen, naming rooms by itself and clearing a 121 square-metre hall in one charge with battery to spare. T3 also found mapping quick. Vacuum Wars, though, measured below-average cleaning speed and range, estimating about 757 square feet per charge, and had to rescue it a couple of times when it got stuck. Home size and layout may explain the gap; watch the first few runs.
Good at dodging clutter
Vacuum Wars saw it avoid 19 of 24 objects, better than average. TechRadar watched it steer round gloves, pens and a tape measure, though it ran over a pair of scissors once when it approached at an angle. The same reviewer once freed it from a tight spot by steering it through its camera in the app. TechRadar still wouldn't trust it with dog mess, and nor should you.

Should you buy the Matrix10 Ultra?
Best for: Homes wanting separate mop pads for bathrooms and kitchens. Skip it if: You have little room for a large dock.
Buy it if you mop a lot, have very different floors or want separate pads for the bathroom. If separate mops don't matter, the Dreame L50 Ultra does most of the same with a normal-sized dock.
The Matrix10’s main distinction is a dock that stores and changes mop-pad sets and cleaning fluids for different rooms. The robot also has twin brushes and lifting legs. The large dock needs both floor space and access for its tanks.

The questions people ask about this one
Do I really need three sets of mops?
It makes most sense if you want separate pads or cleaning fluids for different rooms. TechRadar thought it unnecessary for many homes, while T3 saw it as a key benefit. If you don't need the switching, compare another model's cleaning results and current price rather than assuming it mops just as well.
How big is the dock, and where can it go?
It's 41.6cm wide, 45.7cm deep and 58.9cm tall, per the specifications. T3 recommends about half a metre clear either side and 1.5 metres in front, and warns the power cable is only about a metre long. Plan the spot before it arrives.
Will it avoid cables and pet mess?
Mostly cables, not pet mess. Vacuum Wars recorded 19 of 24 objects avoided, and TechRadar found it rarely bumped into things, though it rode over scissors once. The same reviewer wouldn't rely on it to avoid dog poop. Pick up anything you'd hate it to hit.
Can it cross rugs and raised thresholds between rooms?
Well. Dreame claims 4.2cm for a single step and 8cm for two-step thresholds, per the specifications. Vacuum Wars measured it clearing 40mm on a single step, just under the L50 Ultra's 42mm, and it did better than the L50 on multi-step thresholds. You mark thresholds in the app so it knows to lift itself.
Can it leave the mops in the dock for carpet?
Yes. Vacuum Wars confirms it can leave the pads in the dock for vacuum-only cleaning. Attached pads also lift by a claimed 10.5mm, but that won't necessarily clear a thick rug. For deep pile, leave the pads docked rather than relying on the lift, and set up the carpet settings to match.
What do we know about mop-switching reliability?
Vacuum Wars had one error that cleared after a restart, and TechRadar had no problems. That's two short tests, so nobody knows yet how the mechanism holds up over years. Check the seller's warranty and how dock repairs are handled before you buy.
