Two home tests. inside digital found it cleared fingerprints and dust easily and cleaned right up to the frame, but it was loud and slow on dried-on marks. L&B Tech Reviews got good results that weren't perfect, with a hint of streaks on filthy spring windows, and it got stuck on a blind during their test. Both say you have to stay with it. An owner on Reddit owner liked it for awkward high windows but found swapping pads between panes tedious.

Clean on light dirt, not neglect
inside digital found fingerprints and dust came off without trouble. Dried-on spots and the dog's nose prints took several passes, though deep-clean mode sorted them. L&B Tech Reviews tried it on windows left grimy by a winter of traffic and saw some dirt left behind, plus a hint of streaks in bright sun. They reckon rinsing the glass first would have helped. Use it little and often, and switch to deep-clean mode for anything stubborn.
Gets close to the frame, mostly
The new corner brushes are meant to get within 1mm of the frame. inside digital said it really did clean right up to the frame, with no wiping by hand afterwards. L&B Tech Reviews was less sure of its edge sensing: old putty-sealed windows with a sloped edge confused it, though it got there in the end. L&B adds that Ecovacs wants the frame edge to be more than 4mm deep, so check your frames before buying.
You'll stand and watch
Each pane takes a couple of minutes, which L&B Tech Reviews points out isn't long enough to go and do anything else, so you end up watching. inside digital notes that Ecovacs itself recommends staying in the room while it works. For an owner on Reddit owner, the tedious part was cleaning the edge brush, taking the pad off and fitting a clean one between panes. It saves effort on awkward glass, not time across a whole house.
Trouble with blinds and roof windows
L&B Tech Reviews had it get stuck behind a blind on a window that wouldn't open fully, and had to reverse it out with the remote control in the app. On a roof window, inside digital got an immediate warning that it only works on vertical glass. Both found the grip very strong once it was on. Move blinds and curtains out of the way first, and don't buy it for skylights.
Loud, and it talks
inside digital compared the noise with a vacuum cleaner and found the voice prompts loud too, though you can turn them down in the app. L&B Tech Reviews thought the app was simple but found the mode names confusing, since two of them sound as if they're both for very dirty windows. Neither review gives a decibel figure, and Ecovacs doesn't list one. Don't plan on running it while someone's napping nearby.

Should you buy the WINBOT mini 2?
Best for: Small or awkward window panes with a socket nearby. Skip it if: You want to leave it working without supervision.
buy it if you have a few awkward, high or narrow windows near a socket and want the stretching done for you. For big glass walls or windows far from sockets, the W2S OMNI's battery station suits better.
The WINBOT mini 2 is the small, cheaper end of Ecovacs's window range. It's a flat square that fits panes as small as 25 by 25cm, where the bigger models need much more glass. It replaces last year's WINBOT mini with soft brushes in all four corners to get closer to the frame, plus an edge-cleaning mode. There's no battery station, so it runs on a mains lead, and nothing washes the pad for you.
There are two home reports, but only one completed review. inside digital found it cleared fingerprints and dust easily and reached right to the frame, but it was loud and slow on dried-on marks. L&B Tech Reviews got good results that weren't perfect. Other specifications come from Ecovacs. Each pane takes a couple of minutes and you stand beside it, then lift it to the next one and rinse or swap the pad as you go. The small battery only holds it on the glass if the power goes.

Will it work on frameless glass?
Ecovacs lists it for framed and frameless windows, per the specifications. inside digital reports that Ecovacs asks you to leave a 10cm gap from the edge on frameless glass, but neither review tried it there. Keep the safety rope tied off until you trust it.
What happens if the power cuts out?
It runs from the mains, and a small built-in battery holds it on the glass for 30 minutes after a power cut, per the specifications. L&B Tech Reviews calls it a backup that holds on for a moment, and inside digital confirms it only cleans while plugged in. Either way, tie the safety rope to something sturdy.
Does it leave streaks?
On glass that's cleaned regularly, not much. inside digital got clean glass right to the frame. On very dirty spring windows, L&B Tech Reviews saw some dirt left and a hint of streaks in strong sun. Clean neglected glass by hand once, then let the robot keep it tidy.
How long does it take to do one window?
inside digital timed over a minute and a half for a 90 by 90cm kitchen window and thought that was slow. Ecovacs quotes two and a half minutes per square metre in fast mode, per the specifications. L&B Tech Reviews found each session took a couple of minutes, plus the time to move it.
Will it fit small windows?
Yes, it's smaller than its bigger siblings. It needs a pane of at least 25 by 25cm and is 21.5cm square, per the specifications. L&B Tech Reviews says the mini line copes better than the larger WINBOTs with windows that have grilles or sliding doors, but it still needs a proper frame edge to turn at.
Does it need a special cleaning fluid?
It comes with a bottle of Ecovacs' cleaning solution, and both L&B Tech Reviews and inside digital filled the tank with that. Neither review says whether plain water works. Budget for replacement solution and pads, which Ecovacs sells separately.
