The short version
The Freo 20 Edge sits below the Freo 20 in Narwal's 2026 range. It keeps the wide, flat track mop that's rinsed with clean water as it cleans, the same claimed suction and a dock that empties the robot into a bag, washes the mop and dries it. The mop also pushes out sideways to reach into corners and along skirting boards.
The savings come from the sensors and the heat. According to Android Authority, it swaps the Freo 20's two cameras for laser and structured-light sensing that recognises fewer objects, and it rinses the mop with room-temperature water rather than hot. The dock still dries the mop with warm air.
No finished independent review had been published when this page was written, so everything here is Narwal's claims plus launch coverage.
Our take: Hold off until someone tests it. On paper it's a cheaper way to get Narwal's self-rinsing track mop, which testers rate highly on the Flow. If you need a proven robot now, the Narwal Flow has that mop and several published tests, and the Freo Z10 Turbo is a tested mid-range Narwal with spinning pads.

What's here comes from Narwal's product page and launch coverage from Android Authority, which didn't test the robot. Until reviews arrive, treat every performance figure below as the maker's claim. The closest tested relative is the Narwal Flow, which uses the same style of self-rinsing track mop.
What you give up
Android Authority reports that the Edge drops the Freo 20's two cameras, which Narwal says recognise over 300 object types, for laser and structured-light sensing that recognises about 150. It also rinses the mop with room-temperature water rather than the Freo 20's hot water. For a tidy home with hard floors that may not matter. With pets or cables on the floor, cameras usually do better at telling a sock from a pet accident.
Corners are the headline
Narwal says the mop extends outwards to reach right into corners and along edges, per the specifications, and Android Authority reports it pushes out up to 4.8cm. Round robots usually leave a strip along walls and a dry triangle in corners, so this matters if your kitchen has lots of cupboards. Nobody has measured it yet.
Hands-off dock, with limits
The dock washes the mop, dries it with 113°F (45°C) air, cleans its own dirty-water tank and holds up to 120 days of dust in a bag, per the specifications. That's most of the upkeep. Narwal doesn't say the dock refills or drains through plumbing, so expect to fill and empty the water tanks yourself.

Unknown. It has no camera, and Android Authority reports it recognises about 150 object types using laser and structured light. Nobody has tested it with cables or pet waste, so pick things up first.
Does it fit under low furniture?
Only gaps of about 10cm or more. Narwal lists the robot at 3.7in (95mm) tall, per the specifications, the same as the Freo 20. Measure under your sofa and bed before you buy.
How often do I have to empty or refill anything?
The dust bag holds up to 120 days, per the specifications. The dock washes and dries the mop and cleans its dirty-water tank, but you'll still fill the clean-water tank and empty the dirty one by hand.
How big is the dock, and is it loud?
Narwal lists the dock at 360 x 450 x 530mm and says the robot runs at 59dB, per the specifications. Nobody has measured the noise of it emptying yet.
