What reviewers found

Four detailed tests. Vacuum Wars and RTINGS measured it in the lab, while TechRadar and Expert Reviews lived with it. The mopping gets the most praise, and Vacuum Wars called its mopping score the best they've recorded. Carpet and pet hair split them, with RTINGS much less impressed than the rest. Every tester who timed it found it slow and heavy on battery. Separately, Vacuum Wars reports widespread owner complaints about leaking docks.

RTINGS, lab test · Vacuum Wars, lab test · TechRadar, hands-on, Dec 2025 · Expert Reviews, hands-on, Nov 2025 (tested on the Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete)

  • Hard floors

    Reviewers rate it highly

TechRadar saw every visible bit of debris picked up and even tea cleared from tile grout, and Vacuum Wars found hard-floor vacuuming consistent and reliable across repeat passes.

  • Carpet and rugs

    Mixed results

The praise comes from mid-pile carpet. TechRadar and Expert Reviews got carpets looking freshly vacuumed, but RTINGS found fine debris left in high-pile carpet. Keep a stick vacuum handy for deep, plush rugs.

  • Pet hair

    Mixed results

Vacuum Wars measured well-above-average hair removal from carpet and TechRadar saw a hair-laden carpet cleaned thoroughly, but RTINGS called pet-hair pickup mediocre, with hair dragged around rather than lifted.

  • Mopping

    Mixed results

Vacuum Wars recorded its highest combined mopping score at the time of its review, and TechRadar saw it remove old, set-in stains. RTINGS found dried messes needed more than one pass. Strong mopping comes up again and again, but not every test calls it the best ever.

  • Navigation and obstacles

    Mixed results

Vacuum Wars saw it avoid most objects and TechRadar watched it clean round cables and chair legs. But Expert Reviews had to rescue it from the top of the stairs and saw it miss fake pet waste, which RTINGS also found. It's slow to cover a room.

  • Dock care and reliability

Convenient roller cleaning, with owner reports of leaks

Vacuum Wars and Expert Reviews praised the dock's automation and roller washing. Vacuum Wars also reported owner complaints about water leaking under the dock, though its own unit didn't leak and nobody knows the failure rate.

  • App and software

    Reviewers rate it highly

Vacuum Wars rates the app one of its favourites, with accurate maps and full control, and Expert Reviews praises its very granular settings. TechRadar liked it too but struggled at first to find some options.

  • Noise

    Not enough evidence

Only Expert Reviews judged its noise while cleaning, finding it loud enough to undermine the pet camera features. No other review we use measured or judged it.

  • Reliability and support

    Not enough evidence

None of the reviews we use ran it long term or judged Dreame's support. Owner reports of leaking docks, noted by Vacuum Wars, aren't backed by a published failure rate.

  • Value

    Reviewers found problems

Testers found it hard to justify at full price. Expert Reviews says it beats a rival half the price, but not by enough, and TechRadar notes you can get flagship-level cleaning for less.

Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works

Leaking docks: the big question

After a wave of owner reports of water pooling under the dock, Vacuum Wars dropped the model from fifth to 36th in its rankings and out of its top 20. Its own test unit never leaked, and Dreame's Reddit channel asked owners to report leaking docks to customer service. Nobody has published a failure rate, so this doesn't mean every unit is affected. It's still the main reason to buy somewhere with easy returns.

Superb mopping, with one caveat

Vacuum Wars recorded a combined mopping score of 280 against an average of 184, the best they'd seen, and it left little water behind. TechRadar found it removed old, set-in stains that a previous robot couldn't shift. Expert Reviews liked that it reaches cabinet edges and goes back over stubborn marks. RTINGS is the odd one out: it wouldn't lift dried-on messes in a single pass. Expect a second pass on the worst spots.

Mixed results on carpet and pet hair

TechRadar estimated 98 to 99% hair pickup on a heavily soiled carpet, and Expert Reviews called carpet results superb. Vacuum Wars measured above-average sand and pet-hair removal. RTINGS disagreed, finding fine debris left on high-pile carpet and calling pet-hair pickup mediocre. Carpet type may explain some of it, as the strongest praise came from mid-pile carpet. On deep, plush carpet, keep a stick vacuum handy.

Good avoidance, except pet mess

Vacuum Wars saw it avoid 21 of 24 objects, well above average, and TechRadar found it cleaned alongside loose cables rather than running over them. On a brown carpet, though, Expert Reviews watched it miss fake pet waste, and RTINGS also found it doesn't reliably avoid pet waste, with more bumps on carpet. If your pet has accidents, don't run it unsupervised.

Slow, with limited coverage per charge

Vacuum Wars estimated about 64m² of coverage per charge and measured slower-than-average cleaning. Expert Reviews used 75% of the battery on one floor and found it much slower than several rivals. TechRadar also saw it clean the same areas over and over. Check those results against the floor area you need cleaned, because the type of home on its own won't tell you whether one charge is enough.

Expert Reviews tested the Aqua10 Ultra Roller Complete, which is the same robot with extra consumables.

Our take

Should you buy the Aqua10 Ultra Roller?

Best for: Homes where washing hard floors is the main job. Skip it if: You want to avoid a model with unresolved reports of dock leaks.

The Aqua10 is worth considering for frequent hard-floor mopping, but owner reports of water leaking from the dock are a significant drawback. The Matrix10 Ultra is another option: it uses spinning pads and can switch between separate sets for different rooms. Compare the cleaning results and dock sizes, and check warranty and returns terms before buying either.

The Aqua10 Ultra Roller is Dreame's first robot with a roller mop in place of spinning pads. The roller is rinsed with fresh water as it cleans, a cover closes over it on carpet, and the sensor on top sinks into the body so it fits under lower furniture. The dock empties the bin, washes the roller in very hot water, dries it and doses detergent.

Vacuum Wars measured its strongest combined mopping result at the time, and TechRadar removed old stains. RTINGS was less impressed with dried messes, which needed repeated passes. Carpet results also differed. TechRadar and Expert Reviews liked cleaning on medium-pile carpet, while RTINGS left fine dirt in thicker carpet and struggled with pet hair. The robot was slow in timed tests, and Expert Reviews used most of the battery on one floor. Dock leaks are the main concern. Vacuum Wars removed the Aqua10 from its top recommendations after owner reports of water pooling beneath the dock, although its own test unit did not leak. The reports do not establish how common the problem is.

The questions people ask about this one

Should I worry about the dock leaking?

It's a fair worry. Vacuum Wars reported many owner complaints about water pooling under the dock and dropped it from its recommendations, though its own lab unit never leaked. Check the retailer's returns window, keep the box for the first few weeks, and look under the dock after the first runs.

Will it keep my rugs dry?

Very likely. The roller lifts 14mm and a physical cover closes over it on carpet, per the specifications. TechRadar never saw a damp patch on its rug, even at the edges. You can also tell it to avoid carpets entirely while mopping.

Will it avoid cables and pet mess?

Cables, mostly yes: Vacuum Wars saw it dodge 21 of 24 objects and TechRadar watched it clean alongside a loose cable. Pet mess, no: both Expert Reviews and RTINGS saw it fail to avoid fake pet waste, so supervise it if accidents happen.

Is it good on thick carpet?

RTINGS found fine dirt left in high-pile carpet and some hair dragged around instead of collected. Other reviews were more positive, mainly on medium pile. If thick carpet is your priority, compare robots on their carpet and pet-hair results, because a roller mop doesn't mean stronger vacuuming.

Will one charge clean my whole home?

Vacuum Wars estimated about 64m² per charge in its test. What you get will vary with the layout, settings and repeat passes. Expert Reviews used most of the battery on one floor, so being sold for small homes doesn't guarantee a whole clean without recharging.

Does it fit under low furniture?

Often. It lowers its laser turret to stand 9.75cm tall, per the specifications, and TechRadar rated the retracting turret a real advantage. Measure under your sofa, as many robots need at least 10cm.

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra
Dreame · £699

Matrix10 Ultra

£164 more than the Aqua10 Ultra Roller

Why consider it: You can give different Matrix10 mop-pad sets to the bathroom and kitchen, and home reviewers liked its mapping, although Vacuum Wars found slow coverage and had to rescue it twice.

The compromise: The dock is very large, and carpet results are uneven.

Narwal Flow 2
Narwal

Flow 2

Why consider it: After months of home use it left clean, streak-free floors and coped well with a shedding dog.

The compromise: It missed cereal and debris along edges, and the app and dock can frustrate.

eufy Omni S2
eufy · £1,299

Omni S2

£764 more than the Aqua10 Ultra Roller

Why consider it: It cleans carpet well and dodged obstacles superbly in its tests.

The compromise: Mopping results are unusually divided, and one long-term reviewer's unit had to be replaced.

Head to head

Dreame Matrix10 Ultra vs Aqua10 Ultra Roller

Our verdict: Pick the Aqua10 for a roller that's rinsed as it goes, or the Matrix10 for separate sets of mop pads for different rooms. Both docks take up a lot of space, so compare their sizes below. Owner leak reports are a real concern for the Aqua10, but a lack of similar reports doesn't prove the Matrix10 fails less.
