What reviewers found

Three home tests, all positive. Trusted Reviews found it removed dust, water marks and smears inside and out. heise bestenlisten rated it the best cleaner of its type they'd tried, though not streak-free. PC-WELT praised how much work it saves but found it smeared some corners. Heise and PC-WELT agree the edge scrubbers help without making corners perfect. The testers disagree on battery life and noise, and none of them got anywhere near a hands-off experience. An early owner report on Reddit owner matches the positive picture.

Trusted Reviews, hands-on, Jun 2026 · heise bestenlisten, hands-on, Oct 2025 · PC-WELT, hands-on, Oct 2025

  • Cleaning result

    Reviewers rate it highly

Trusted Reviews got streak-free glass with dust and water marks gone, heise bestenlisten rated it the best cleaner of its type despite faint streaks, and PC-WELT called it almost perfect. Corners are still the weak spot, where PC-WELT saw round smears.

  • Safety

    Reviewers rate it highly

Trusted Reviews had it stay firmly attached on a first-floor outside window without falling, PC-WELT found it held securely with the cable doubling as a safety line, and heise bestenlisten found its edge sensors reliable.

  • Surfaces it suits

    Mixed results

It wants large, flat, upright glass. Trusted Reviews couldn't use it on small top-opening windows or most upstairs outside panes, and PC-WELT found it can't handle horizontal or curved glass.

  • Ease of use

    Mixed results

Trusted Reviews and heise bestenlisten had it running within minutes. But heise bestenlisten hit Bluetooth delays and error messages, PC-WELT disliked needing Ecovacs' own fluid, and Trusted Reviews found the 1.2m mains lead short and the spray blown away by wind.

  • Noise

    Mixed results

The tests disagree: heise bestenlisten measured a calm 56dB and PC-WELT 53dB, while Trusted Reviews recorded 68dB and called it noisy. None of the three explains how it measured.

  • Value

    Mixed results

PC-WELT recommends it despite the price for homes with lots of big glass, but heise bestenlisten expected better build and results for the money, and Trusted Reviews found it saved no time.

Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works

Very good on everyday dirt

Trusted Reviews ran it on dusty, smeared patio windows inside and out and got them clear, with the water marks gone. Stickers and sticky fingermarks stayed put. heise bestenlisten found results good but with faint streaks left, and said stubborn dried-on dirt had to be done by hand. PC-WELT called it almost perfect, but it couldn't always shift bird droppings and left a mark where it parked at the end. Expect clear glass on regular cleans and a touch-up by hand on anything baked on.

Edges are better, corners aren't solved

The spinning edge scrubbers are the new trick. heise bestenlisten found they started reliably at the frame and cleaned edges better than rival robots, but the corners still weren't fully clean. PC-WELT was blunter: in its test it often didn't clean the corners at all and sometimes smeared round marks there. Trusted Reviews saw it push some smeared sauce to the edge of the pane rather than lift it off. If spotless corners matter to you, keep a cloth handy.

Battery life falls short of the claim

Ecovacs claims 110 minutes from the station's battery. heise bestenlisten measured 70 to 80 minutes, depending on mode and dirt, which it still rated above many rivals. Trusted Reviews got roughly an hour. That's enough for a good few windows, and you can plug the station in to keep going. Trusted Reviews found its mains lead only 1.2m long, though, so the station had to go up on a worktop to reach a socket. Plan on charging it between big sessions.

You'll watch it, pane by pane

For Trusted Reviews, watching the robot and rinsing its pad meant it saved no time at all. PC-WELT valued having less physical work to do on large panes, while heise bestenlisten timed windows at seven to ten minutes each. Expect to spend time attaching it, moving it between panes and washing pads. How much work it saves you depends on your windows and how dirty they get.

Testers disagree on how loud it is

Trusted Reviews recorded 68dB and called it noisy, while heise bestenlisten reported 56dB(A). Neither says enough about distance or mode to compare the two figures directly. It's audible while it works, but these tests can't tell you whether it will bother someone in the next room. The voice prompts add to the noise.

This covers the W2S OMNI with its battery station, not the plain W2S or the older W2 Pro Omni. Heise and PC-WELT reviewed it in German.

Our take

Should you buy the WINBOT W2S OMNI?

Best for: Large windows or glass doors far from convenient sockets. Skip it if: You do not want to rinse pads or finish corners by hand.

Consider it for large panes you can reach safely when sockets are awkward, if you are happy to rinse the pad between runs. The mini 2 is smaller and the W3 OMNI adds pad washing. Check each one's minimum pane size and how you will attach and retrieve it, especially on top-opening windows.

Ecovacs tethers the W2S OMNI to a portable station with a battery inside, so it can clean windows with no socket nearby. The station reels the cable in and out and is heavy enough to anchor the robot if it slips. Small spinning scrubbers drop down at the edges to get closer to the frame, and it replaces the W2 Pro Omni.

Trusted Reviews got streak-free glass with dust and water marks gone. heise bestenlisten rated it the best cleaner of its type it has tried, with faint streaks left, and PC-WELT called it almost perfect but found it often missed the corners and left round smears there. All three found it held on securely, including on a first-floor outside window for Trusted Reviews. It won't take small or top-opening panes, and Trusted Reviews felt it had to be watched pane by pane, so it saved no time. Both heise bestenlisten and Trusted Reviews got well under Ecovacs' claimed battery life, and they disagree on noise, with heise bestenlisten finding it quiet and Trusted Reviews calling it noisy.

The questions people ask about this one

Will it work on frameless glass?

Ecovacs lists it for framed and frameless windows, per the specifications, and heise bestenlisten mentions a dedicated sensor for frameless edges. None of the three reviewers tried it on frameless glass, so for now that's the maker's claim. Keep the safety cable tied off.

What happens if the power cuts out?

The station can run on its battery, and the specifications describes a temporary backup hold after a power cut. Follow ECOVACS' instructions for the safety cable, station position and anchor on every run, and take the robot down carefully after a power warning. The battery and the station's weight don't replace tying it off properly.

Does it leave streaks?

Depends who you ask. Trusted Reviews got a streak-free finish, while heise bestenlisten saw faint streaks left behind and PC-WELT found smeared marks in some corners and where it parked. On regularly cleaned glass you'll get a good result; on neglected windows plan on a second run or a quick wipe.

Can I use it on upstairs outside windows?

Only where you can put it on safely. Trusted Reviews cleaned a first-floor window from the landing, but said it's no good for most of their upstairs outside glass because there was no safe way to get it on there. Wind also blew the spray off the glass, so pick a still day.

How long does one window take?

heise bestenlisten timed seven to ten minutes a window, depending on the mode and how dirty it was. Ecovacs quotes under two minutes per square metre in fast mode, per the specifications. Add time for moving it and rinsing the pad, which Trusted Reviews had to do after every dirty outside pane.

Does it need a special cleaning fluid?

Ecovacs supplies its own solution, and PC-WELT lists needing that special fluid as a downside. heise bestenlisten found the solution helped on greasy marks. You can fill it with water, per heise bestenlisten, but budget for replacement solution and pads if you use it often.

WINBOT W3 OMNI

Why consider it: An owner valued its station washing the cleaning pad, which removes the chore reviewers here complained about.

The compromise: You still place it on each window, and dirtier glass can need a second pass.

Why consider it: Roboter-Forum found it cleaned everyday dirt well, and its portable station means no socket hunting.

The compromise: Its corner brush didn't reach every corner, and spray marks could need a final wipe.

Why consider it: TechRadar found it excellent on lightly dirty glass and accurate at spotting frameless edges.

The compromise: It runs from the mains only, and both of its reviewers saw streaks on dirtier glass.

WINBOT W2S OMNI head to head

Head to head

ECOVACS WINBOT W3 OMNI vs WINBOT W2S OMNI

Our verdict: The W3 OMNI's big gain is a station that washes the pad for you, which TechRadar's Dutch edition called its best feature. Otherwise both need carrying to each pane and struggle with neglected glass. If rinsing pads doesn't bother you, the W2S OMNI is lighter and cheaper.
