RTINGS found strong hard-floor pickup and effective rotating-pad mopping. Carpet cleaning was less complete, particularly for fine debris and pet hair. That makes floor type a more useful buying guide than the suction figure: a mostly tiled or wooden home is a better match to this test than one dominated by carpet and shedding pets.

The same test found poor avoidance of socks, cables, slippers and pet waste. The ability to map rooms does not mean the robot will reliably identify small hazards inside them. For a household where objects accumulate during the day, an early run after clearing the floor is a more realistic use than assuming every cleaning cycle will be unattended.

RTINGS highlighted the combination of automatic emptying, water replenishment and mop washing and drying. It reduces repeated handling between jobs, making frequent mopping more appealing. This convenience is a stronger reason to choose the S than to expect it to clean thick carpet as well as a dedicated manual vacuum.

Roborock documents extra cleaning controls, including adding or skipping an area and automatic Smart Plan settings. It also lists a slightly smaller onboard dustbin alongside increased claimed suction. Those are manufacturer-confirmed differences, not evidence that every cleaning result improves. The meaningful choice is whether the extra controls and complete dock fit your routine.
