An older eufy robot vacuum with two suction fans, laser mapping and a compact base that empties its bin. It vacuums well, but the mop is a basic clip-on pad and long hair still tangles the brush.

The short version
The X8 Pro was eufy's pet-focused laser-mapping robot before the Omni models took over. Two small fans share the suction, and the roller brush spins backwards against a comb to shake hair loose. This version comes with a slim base that empties the robot's bin into a 2.5-litre bag, which eufy says lasts 30 to 60 days depending on pets. A plain version without the base was also sold.
Vacuuming is the reason to buy it. The mop is a pad you clip on and wet by hand, and the robot simply drags it along after vacuuming, so it suits a quick wipe rather than stains. The laser tower on top makes it about 11cm tall, and it's weak at spotting low things like cables, mats and pet bowls.
eufy's own stores have stopped selling it new, so expect to find it as remaining or refurbished stock from other sellers.
Our take: Worth it at a clearance price if you mainly want dependable vacuuming, carpets included, with a small base that empties itself, and you're happy to mop by hand. Skip it if you want the robot to mop properly or you have long hair in the house and hate cutting it off brushes. The eufy Omni C20 washes its own mop pads and is much lower, and the Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2 is a current budget self-emptier.

Three home tests of the robot with its self-empty base. TechRadar used it as its only vacuum for a couple of weeks, Homes & Gardens ran it for weeks and followed up after a year, and Tech Advisor tested it in a home with pets. All three rate the vacuuming and the app, and all found the mop basic. They split on how well the detangling brush copes: Homes & Gardens was impressed, while TechRadar and Tech Advisor still had to pull long hair off it.

Strong everyday vacuuming
TechRadar called its vacuuming seriously impressive, and it climbed from floorboards onto carpet and through thick rugs without getting stuck. It does flick debris around with its side brush, so TechRadar set it to clean each room twice. Homes & Gardens saw it clear sugar and oats from carpet quickly, though fine flour in deep pile needed several passes. Tech Advisor found it cleaned carpets and hard floors convincingly, but not right into edges.
The detangling brush has limits
eufy sells the brush as detangling itself. Homes & Gardens scattered hair extensions and found it cleared most of the hair with only a few strands wrapped. Tech Advisor found it fine with pet hair, but long human hair still wound round the brush and side brush. TechRadar had it stop and ask for help twice in one day because of a small clump of long hair. With long hair in the house, expect some brush clearing.
Watch out for low obstacles
Tech Advisor found it stopped short of most obstacles but regularly charged into pet bowls, mats and cables, dragging mats behind it. TechRadar saw it fight a lamp cable and squash shoes, and it once invented rooms on the map, which needed a factory reset to fix. Homes & Gardens found it bumped walls gently and took a few minutes to get over a ridge between rooms.
The mop is an afterthought
You fill the tank and clip the pad on by hand, and it vacuums first, then drags the damp pad behind. TechRadar found it fine for light, frequent wipes but no use on fresh spills or dried stains, and the pad cleans unevenly. Tech Advisor saw it lift dried toothpaste and tea marks, but warns it leaves a damp trail over rugs. Homes & Gardens was more positive about how clean its hard floors looked.
Compact base, shorter runs
Tech Advisor liked how small the base is, at 38 × 19 × 13cm, and expected a bag to last about six weeks, but found the few seconds of emptying loud. TechRadar got about half of eufy's claimed 180-minute runtime: 30 minutes of cleaning took the battery from 90% to 62%. It measured 65 to 69dB while vacuuming, and Homes & Gardens measured a 74dBA peak.

Will it avoid cables and pet mess?
Not reliably. Tech Advisor saw it run into pet bowls, mats and cables, and TechRadar found it tangling with a lamp cable. It has a laser for mapping but no camera to recognise objects, per the specifications. Tidy up first and use no-go zones round pet areas.
Does it fit under low furniture?
Often not. TechRadar measured it at about 11.4cm including the laser tower on top, and eufy advises no-go zones under furniture lower than 12cm. If low sofas matter, the slimmer eufy C10 or Omni C20 are better choices.
How does it handle rugs and door bars?
Well for vacuuming. TechRadar found it never failed to climb from floorboards onto carpet and didn't get stuck on thick rugs, and Tech Advisor saw it cross a 22mm threshold with some back-and-forth. The mop can't lift, so set no-mop zones over rugs.
How often do I have to empty or refill anything?
The base empties the bin into a 2.5-litre bag that eufy says lasts up to 60 days without pets, 45 with one and 30 with two, per the specifications. Tech Advisor expected about six weeks. If you mop, you fill and empty the robot's water tank and wash the pad yourself each time.
How big is the dock, and is it loud?
Small. Tech Advisor measured the base at 38 × 19 × 13cm, much smaller than mop-washing docks, but found the emptying loud for a few seconds. TechRadar suggests leaving about 50cm clear on each side of it so the robot can clean and dock.
