What we know
The Scotsman's tester ran the Air 2 Plus alongside the cheaper Air 2 to keep watch on his two dogs. He found the sharper camera and video calls a real step up and the pet tracking impressive. But it sometimes lost the dog, still got stuck and struggled to find its dock in low light. Digital Camera World tested only the Air 2.
The Scotsman, hands-on, Aug 2025 (Tested alongside the Air 2) · Digital Camera World, hands-on, Jun 2025 (tested on the EBO Air 2; Reviews the cheaper Air 2, which lacks the Plus's camera, video calls and assistant)
Video calls through its eyes
The screen behind the visor shows animated eyes and, during a call, the other person's face. The Scotsman called it moderately effective for video chat, and thought it great for keeping an eye on children or older relatives, since you can follow them around and talk in real time. Enabot adds a call button on top so someone at home can ring you the specifications.
Tracks pets, mostly
The Scotsman found the new tracking lets it follow a pet from room to room, which he called a big upgrade on the Air 2. It isn't perfect. Now and then it lost his dog, and he had to find the dog again himself to restart following. He also found the sharper camera made a real difference to the footage. Expect to step in from time to time rather than leaving it to follow your pet all day.
Stairs, rugs and docking
Like the rest of the range, it's beaten by stairs, The Scotsman says: his dogs learned to escape it by running upstairs. It got stuck from time to time despite better obstacle avoidance, and wasn't reliable at finding its dock in low light. Enabot quotes a 10mm limit for bumps and 15° slopes the specifications. Digital Camera World's Air 2, on similar tracks, coped with rugs and small obstacles, but that's a different model.
What's not checked yet
Enabot says the built-in assistant uses ChatGPT and other AI models to chat, tell bedtime stories, help children practise languages and give reminders, and that the app can alert you to unusual movement the specifications. The Scotsman concentrated on tracking and calls and didn't try the assistant. Still unchecked: how accurate its answers are, how dependable the reminders and alerts are, how long the battery lasts and how clear calls are on a weak connection. Don't rely on it for care duties yet.
Findings cover the Air 2 Plus from The Scotsman's test. Digital Camera World reviewed the cheaper Air 2, which has a 2K camera, no video calls and no chat assistant, so we don't count its review here.
Our take
Should you buy the EBO Air 2 Plus?
Best for: Families wanting a moving camera for check-ins and video calls. Skip it if: Stairs, thick rugs or raised thresholds separate the rooms you want to reach.
consider it if you want a moving pet camera that family can video-call through and your home is mostly on one level. The EBO Max has three reviews behind it and adds a 4K camera and home mapping, and Enabot's ROLA Mini is a simpler tracked pet camera.
The Air 2 Plus is a helmet-shaped robot on rubber tracks, about 12cm across, that you drive round the house from the Enabot app. Its screen eyes double as a small display for video calls. Over the cheaper Air 2 it adds a sharper camera, two-way video, scheduled patrols, tracking of people and pets, and a chat assistant built on ChatGPT and other AI models.
The Scotsman's tester liked the tracking and the video calls, but the robot lost his dog now and then, still got stuck, struggled to find its dock in low light and couldn't follow the dogs upstairs. So it suits a single-level home, and it's worth keeping the dock somewhere well lit.

The questions people ask about this one
Does it need a subscription to keep working?
No. Enabot sells a Cloud+ plan for cloud recording and playback, but it's optional, and the robot takes a memory card of up to 256GB the specifications. The tracking and video calls that The Scotsman tested didn't need a plan.
What does it record, and where does that go?
It has a 5MP camera and a microphone, records around the clock with event tagging, and can upload to the optional cloud service the specifications. Enabot lists guest permissions, family accounts and a one-tap privacy mode that switches off the camera or microphone. Nobody has independently checked how it handles your data, including what the chat assistant sends to AI services.
Can it get around my whole home?
Only one floor. The Scotsman found it can't follow pets upstairs, and it still got stuck at times. Enabot says it clears 10mm obstacles, climbs 15° slopes and fits under furniture with 11cm of clearance the specifications. Check thick rugs and tight corners before you buy.
How long does the battery last?
Enabot claims 9–10 hours on standby or recording and up to 4 hours of driving the specifications. It heads back to its dock when the battery is low, but The Scotsman found it wasn't always good at finding the dock in low light. Nobody has measured the battery independently.
Is it suitable for young children?
Enabot gives no age guidance the specifications, though it pitches the assistant at children with bedtime stories and language practice. The Scotsman saw the two-way video as useful for keeping an eye on children, but he didn't test the chat features. Enabot says the rounded shape keeps it upright after bumps.
Alternatives
Other companion robots to compare.

EBO Max
Why consider it: It adds a 4K camera, home mapping and an assistant that learns faces, and three reviewers have tested it.
The compromise: It still can't climb stairs, and reviewers found the assistant laggy at times.

ROLA Mini
Why consider it: A small tracked pet camera you drive around to peer into spots a fixed camera misses.
The compromise: Floor obstacles and how your pet takes to it are the practical limits.

EBO X
Why consider it: Enabot's flagship, with a stabilised 4K camera and Alexa support.
The compromise: An early review struggled with its software.
