Sky view decides reliability
This is where the testers split. DigiNytt ran the 405VE for three months on Husqvarna's cloud corrections, with no reference station, and never had to rescue it or catch it crossing a boundary, though reception got worse as the tree canopy thickened in summer. At Bäst i test, a trampoline had to be moved about a metre to get a signal behind it, and without a reference station the mower lost its position several times mid-mow, stopped on the lawn and ran flat. If tall trees or buildings shade your lawn, budget for the reference station.
A tidy finish, edges included
DigiNytt found the 405VE left a tidy finish, and its rear edge disc cut closer to the border than other mowers it had tested, though the disc's height is fixed. Bäst i test says the 405VE cuts neatly, evenly and efficiently, especially on open ground, but it left a few decimetres to strim round a trampoline's legs. On the 410VE, Nord-Domotique found the edge disc sharply cut down hand trimming. You'll do far less edging than with most robots, but not none.
Early signs with clutter
On the 405VE, DigiNytt left toys, a frisbee and a hose out on purpose, and the camera dealt with them effectively. On a 410VE, an owner on Reddit owner mapped about 1,100m² into five zones and saw it work its way round trees and a trampoline, reaching much of the grass underneath on its first run. When it snagged a goal net while reversing, it undid the move and carried on. That's one garden, so don't count on it always escaping netting.
Setup takes patience
Nord-Domotique mapped its 410VE by steering it round the lawn, dropping points roughly every 30cm. That's precise, it says, but slow and demanding. It also found the mower travels a little slowly compared with some rivals, so big lawns take longer, and it depends on a network connection. Bäst i test found the 405VE very easy to install, so experiences differ. The owner on Reddit owner mentions a signal loss during installation and occasional odd back-and-forth movement, without tying either to a fault.
Steep ground is a weak spot
DigiNytt found genuinely steep sections a challenge for the 405VE, and the 410VE shares its drive and slope rating: 30% inside the lawn and 20% at the boundary, per Husqvarna. That's less than the cheaper 308V and far less than the 320 NERA's 50%. If your lawn has a real bank, look at an all-wheel-drive mower instead.
DigiNytt and Bäst i test tested the 405VE NERA, the same mower rated for a smaller lawn. We haven't found a finished test of a 410VE on a lawn above 900m².

Should you buy the Automower 410VE NERA?
Best for: Open lawns with little tree cover. Skip it if: Trees or buildings block the sky over much of your lawn.
Consider it for a lawn beyond the 405VE's rating if satellite and mobile or Wi-Fi coverage suit the garden. The available tests concern the smaller 405VE, and they disagree on positioning reliability without a reference station. Keep children and pets away during mowing, because camera detection doesn't prove it's safe around them.
The 410VE NERA is the bigger of Husqvarna's two mid-range camera mowers and replaces the 410XE NERA. It is the same machine as the 405VE NERA, rated for 1,500m² rather than the 405VE's smaller lawn and allowed to work more hours a day. It positions itself by satellite with corrections over built-in mobile data or Wi-Fi, a camera with infrared light spots objects, and a rear disc trims the edges.
