What reviewers found
There are two finished home tests so far. Trusted Reviews ran it on a lawn of nearly 1.5 acres and gave it 4.5 out of 5, praising the cut and the camera but spending hours on stay-out zones. PC-WELT, in a German version of a test first run by Sweden's M3, scored it 3 out of 5. It liked the finish and quiet running, but saw accuracy slip after about a month and found the app clumsy. An owner on Owner on Reddit adds early notes on slopes and zone editing.

Cut quality and edges
Reviewers rate it highlyTrusted Reviews called the cut excellent, with small, frequent trims that mulch back into the lawn, and PC-WELT also rated the finish highly. With no edge disc, PC-WELT found more trimming left along borders than with the best rivals.
Setup and boundaries
Mixed resultsPC-WELT paid for Husqvarna's installation, which was quick. Doing it yourself took Trusted Reviews almost four hours on a big lawn, including nearly two marking out beds, and the map still needed tweaking after the mower strayed.
Navigation
Mixed resultsPC-WELT found navigation excellent for most of its test, but after a few weeks it began leaving almost half a metre by a garage wall. Trusted Reviews saw it move carefully round trees but slide across a boundary until the map was adjusted.
Slopes and rough ground
Mixed resultsPC-WELT found it managed its rated slope without trouble. Trusted Reviews saw it slip across a boundary on a slope and tear the grass where it always turned on the hilliest part, and suggests all-wheel drive for rough ground.
Obstacles and safety
Mixed resultsTrusted Reviews found the camera steered it neatly and slowly round trees, but it treated fallen twigs and leaves as obstacles and left patches. PC-WELT found avoidance mostly dependable, including round a garden tool, though less confident than some rivals.
Weather
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has tested it in the rain or on wet grass yet.
App and software
Mixed resultsThe app covers zones and schedules, but PC-WELT found placing map points clumsy and the app less polished than newer rivals', and Trusted Reviews was stuck with cutting heights shown only in inches.
Upkeep
Not enough evidenceOnly Trusted Reviews reported on upkeep: on its very large lawn the blades needed replacing after 400 hours, and clearing debris first gives a better cut. No other review we use covered this.
Reliability and support
Mixed resultsTrusted Reviews ran it long enough to wear out a set of blades without reporting faults. PC-WELT rated it dependable on the whole, but found its precision slipped after about a month, which it says shouldn't happen at this price.
Value
Not enough evidenceOnly PC-WELT judged value, finding rivals from Mammotion, Dreame, Segway and Roborock offer more for much less. No other review we use weighed up the price.
Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works
An even, quiet cut
Trusted Reviews called the overall cut excellent, with small, frequent trims that mulch back into the lawn, and liked choosing stripes, checkerboard or triangle patterns. PC-WELT also rated the finish highly and found it quiet enough for a built-up street, in line with Husqvarna's 56 dB(A) figure. Like every robot mower, it doesn't pick up twigs or leaves. Debris left on the grass makes the result a little less neat than a manual mow, Trusted Reviews notes, so it's worth clearing first.
The camera avoids things, sometimes too much
Older Automowers bumped into obstacles. Trusted Reviews found this one skirts round them neatly and approaches trees slowly and carefully. On a lawn covered in fallen twigs and big leaves, though, it treated the debris as obstacles and left patches uncut, so a quick tidy before it runs pays off. PC-WELT found avoidance mostly dependable, including round a garden tool left out on the lawn, but less confident than some rivals.
Expect to tune the map
You map it by driving the mower round each area. Trusted Reviews took about 30 minutes per zone, then nearly two hours marking out flower beds, and still had to widen gaps after a wheel dropped into a bed and the mower slid across the boundary on a slope. Placing and moving map points felt clumsy to PC-WELT next to rivals' apps. An owner on Owner on Reddit couldn't split an existing area into smaller zones and disliked needing to be within Bluetooth range to change stay-out zones.
Accuracy and wear over time
Navigation was excellent for most of the PC-WELT test, but after a few weeks the mower started keeping almost half a metre from a garage wall it had previously mowed close to. Trusted Reviews saw a different kind of wear. Driving the same transport path between zones cut a visible track in dry weather, and on the hilliest part it always turned in the same spots and tore the grass. Moving the transport path now and then helps.
Edges still need a strimmer
There's no edge-trimming disc, and PC-WELT says that means more finishing work along borders than with the best rivals. Trusted Reviews did see it mow right up to beehives in its test garden, so open edges it can reach are fine. Walls, beds and fences are where you'll still reach for a trimmer, especially if the mower drifts away from them over time as it did for PC-WELT.
Our take
Should you buy the Automower 430V NERA?
Best for: Large lawns whose owners want dealer installation and support. Skip it if: Your dealer cannot confirm it can find its way around your whole lawn.
buy it for a very large or split lawn with mobile or Wi-Fi coverage across all of it, if you want a quiet mower from a brand with dealers who will install it. For steep, rough ground the all-wheel-drive 435X AWD NERA is built for the job.
The 430V NERA replaces the 430X NERA at the big end of Husqvarna's range, rated for up to 4,800m². The old model needed an add-on kit and a reference station on the house to go wire-free. This one has satellite positioning built in and gets corrections over Wi-Fi or its own mobile connection, so most gardens need nothing on the wall. It is Husqvarna's first large mower with a front camera, which spots toys, animals and people at night as well as by day. There is no edge disc.
Trusted Reviews ran it on nearly an acre and a half with many trees and gave it four and a half out of five. It called the cut excellent, with small, frequent trims that mulch back in, and watched the camera steer slowly and neatly round trees, though it treated fallen twigs and leaves as obstacles and left patches uncut. Mapping took almost four hours, and the mower still slid across a boundary on a slope until the map was widened. PC-WELT, in a German version of a Swedish M3 test, gave it three out of five. It liked the finish and how quietly it runs, but found placing map points clumsy, and after a few weeks the mower started keeping almost half a metre from a garage wall it had mowed close to before, which PC-WELT says should not happen at this price. PC-WELT also found rivals from Mammotion, Dreame, Segway and Roborock offer more for much less.
Before you buy
The questions people ask about this one
Does it need a boundary wire?
No. It follows virtual boundaries drawn in the Automower Connect app, with positioning corrections sent over Wi-Fi or its built-in mobile connection the specifications. Trusted Reviews ran it without a reference station. If coverage is patchy, Husqvarna sells an optional EPOS RS1 station that needs no internet.
Does it need a clear view of the sky?
Less than older wire-free Husqvarnas. Trusted Reviews explains the camera takes over where satellite reception is poor, as long as it can see grass in front of it, and its tree-filled test garden caused no collisions. You do need mobile or Wi-Fi coverage across the whole lawn the specifications.
Will it cope with my slope?
Husqvarna rates it for 50% inside the lawn and 25% at the boundary the specifications. PC-WELT found it handled the stated slope without trouble. Trusted Reviews saw it slip across the boundary on a slope early on and scuff the grass where it turned on hills, and suggests an all-wheel-drive model for rough ground.
How close does it cut to the edge?
Not especially close. There's no edge-cutting disc, and PC-WELT found you're left with more trimming along borders than on the best rivals. It also saw the mower start keeping almost half a metre from a garage wall after a few weeks, so check the edges now and then.
Will it annoy the neighbours?
It's quiet. Husqvarna quotes 56 dB(A) the specifications, and PC-WELT says it won't disturb anyone even where houses are close together. On a big lawn it runs for long stretches, though: Trusted Reviews's test garden needed an estimated 36 hours of mowing for a full cut.
Alternatives
Other robot lawn mowers to compare.

Automower 435X AWD NERA
Why consider it: All-wheel drive for big, rough gardens, and two long tests found a very even cut and dependable running.
The compromise: It runs over small objects and leaves a strip at the edges.

X4 series
Why consider it: Three tests found this four-wheel-drive mower fast, sure-footed and kind to the turf on large, hilly lawns.
The compromise: It's heavy, too wide for narrow gaps, and edges are its weak spot.

LUBA 2 AWD
Why consider it: A big all-wheel-drive mower with a 40cm cut, and reviewers loved its dead-straight stripes.
The compromise: Setup had hiccups, and it needs open sky for its satellite aerial.
