What reviewers found

These findings come from two tests of the 430V NERA, which shares the 450V's body, camera and cutting deck. Trusted Reviews gave the 430V 4.5 out of 5 on a lawn of nearly 1.5 acres. PC-WELT, in a German version of M3's Swedish test, gave it 3 out of 5. An owner on Owner on Reddit with a 450V says it keeps working beyond the reach of home Wi-Fi.

Trusted Reviews, hands-on, Jul 2026 (tested on the Automower 430V NERA; Tested on a lawn of nearly 1.5 acres with many trees) · PC-WELT, hands-on, About a month, Jun 2026 (tested on the Automower 430V NERA; German version of a test first published by M3 in Sweden)

  • Cut quality and edges

    Mixed results

On the 430V, which shares the 450V's 24cm deck and blades, Trusted Reviews called the cut excellent and PC-WELT rated the finish highly. Edges are weaker: with no edge-cutting disc, PC-WELT was left more trimming than with the best rivals.

  • Setup and boundaries

    Mixed results

No wire or reference station is needed. On the 430V, which uses the same positioning and app, Trusted Reviews spent nearly four hours mapping two zones and marking beds, while PC-WELT paid for a quick installation but found editing the map clumsy.

  • Navigation

    Mixed results

Both found the 430V's navigation, which the 450V shares, excellent at first. Trusted Reviews still had it drop a wheel into beds, and PC-WELT saw it drift from a garage wall. Nobody has tested coverage of the 450V's larger 7,500m² rating.

  • Slopes and rough ground

    Mixed results

The 430V has the same drive, weight and slope rating the specifications. PC-WELT found it handled that slope without trouble, but on Trusted Reviews's hilly lawn it slipped across a boundary early on and kept turning in the same spots, digging up grass.

  • Obstacles and safety

    Reviewers rate it highly

The 430V's camera, which the 450V shares, worked well: Trusted Reviews saw it skirt obstacles neatly and approach trees slowly, and PC-WELT found it mostly reliable. Trusted Reviews notes it treats twigs and big leaves as obstacles, leaving patches uncut.

  • Weather

    Not enough evidence

None of the reviews we use tested it, or the 430V, in rain or on wet grass.

  • App and software

    Mixed results

The 430V runs the same app. PC-WELT found placing map points clumsy and the app less polished than rivals', and Trusted Reviews hit a bug showing cutting height only in inches.

  • Upkeep

    Not enough evidence

Only Trusted Reviews reported on upkeep, finding the 430V's blades needed replacing after 400 hours on a very large lawn. No other review we use covered it.

  • Reliability and support

    Not enough evidence

None of the reviews we use has run it long-term or judged Husqvarna's support. Both tests were of the 430V over a few weeks, and the 450V's bigger battery hasn't been tested.

  • Value

    Not enough evidence

Only PC-WELT judged value, finding rivals offer more features for much less than the 430V. Trusted Reviews didn't weigh the price.

Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works

A tidy cut on the 430V

Trusted Reviews called the 430V's overall cut excellent, with small, frequent trims that mulch back into the lawn, and liked the stripe, checkerboard and triangle patterns. PC-WELT also rated the finish highly and praised how quietly it works. The 450V uses the same 24cm deck and blades, so the result should match. Neither mower picks up twigs or leaves, and debris left behind makes the lawn look a little less neat than a manual mow, Trusted Reviews notes.

Camera avoidance, sometimes overcautious

On the 430V, Trusted Reviews found the camera skirts round obstacles neatly and approaches trees slowly. Under trees that dropped lots of twigs and big leaves, though, it treated the debris as obstacles and left patches uncut. PC-WELT found avoidance mostly dependable, including round a garden tool, but less confident than some rivals. The 450V has the same camera, so it's worth tidying the lawn before it runs.

Works beyond the Wi-Fi

A week into ownership, an owner on Owner on Reddit described five zones on a 450V totalling about 4,300m², with home Wi-Fi reaching only two. The rest ran on the mower's mobile connection and Husqvarna's cloud service, and they could still control it remotely from the app. That's encouraging for big rural plots, though it's one early account.

Map tuning takes time

On the 430V, Trusted Reviews spent about 30 minutes mapping each zone and nearly two hours marking flower beds. It still had to widen gaps after a wheel dropped into a bed and the mower slid across a boundary on a slope. PC-WELT found placing map points clumsy and saw the mower start keeping almost half a metre from a garage wall after a few weeks. On a lawn up to 7,500m², expect the same work, only more of it.

What's not checked yet

The 450V's own changes haven't been tested. Husqvarna quotes a 7.5Ah battery, about 160 minutes of mowing per charge and 58 dB(A), against 95 minutes and 56 dB(A) for the 430V. The open questions: whether it really keeps up with 7,500m², whether the longer runs make the worn transport tracks Trusted Reviews saw on the 430V any worse, and whether the slightly louder figure is noticeable.

Our take

Should you buy the Automower 450V NERA?

Best for: Large, open lawns with a clear view of the sky. Skip it if: You want a mower with independent tests of this exact version.

only for very large lawns beyond what the 430V NERA is rated for, with mobile or Wi-Fi coverage throughout. On a smaller plot the 430V NERA is the same mower for less, and for steep, uneven ground the 435X AWD NERA is built for it.

The 450V NERA is the top of Husqvarna's current wire-free range. It is the same body as the 430V NERA, with the same camera, cutting deck and built-in satellite positioning that gets its corrections over Wi-Fi or its own mobile connection. The difference is a bigger battery, which gives about 160 minutes of mowing per charge and lets Husqvarna rate it for much larger lawns. There is no edge-trimming disc.

Both tests are of the 430V. Trusted Reviews called that mower's cut excellent and liked how the camera skirts obstacles, but spent hours mapping and marking flower beds and found it treated twigs and leaves as obstacles. PC-WELT rated the finish highly but found the app clumsy and saw the mower start keeping almost half a metre from a garage wall after a few weeks. One owner on Reddit with a 450V says it keeps working beyond the reach of home Wi-Fi on its mobile connection. So it's only worth the step up if your lawn is too big for the 430V.

The questions people ask about this one

Does it need a boundary wire?

No. It follows virtual boundaries drawn in the Automower Connect app, with positioning corrections sent over Wi-Fi or its built-in mobile connection the specifications. Trusted Reviews ran the 430V this way without a reference station. If coverage is patchy, Husqvarna sells an optional EPOS RS1 station that needs no internet.

Does it need a clear view of the sky?

Less than older wire-free Husqvarnas. Trusted Reviews explains the camera takes over where satellite reception is poor, as long as it can see grass ahead, and its tree-filled 430V test garden caused no collisions. You still need mobile or Wi-Fi coverage across the lawn the specifications, and an owner on Owner on Reddit managed on mobile alone beyond the Wi-Fi.

Will it cope with my slope?

Husqvarna rates it for 50% inside the lawn and 25% at the boundary the specifications. On the 430V, PC-WELT found it handled that slope without trouble, while Trusted Reviews saw it slip across a boundary early on and scuff the grass where it turned on hills. None of the reviews we use has tested the heavier-battery 450V on slopes.

How close does it cut to the edge?

Not especially close. There's no edge-cutting disc, and on the 430V PC-WELT found more trimming was left along borders than with the best rivals. It also saw the mower drift almost half a metre away from a garage wall after a few weeks.

Will the neighbours hear it?

Husqvarna quotes 58 dB(A) the specifications, slightly louder on paper than the 430V's 56 dB(A). PC-WELT found the 430V quiet enough for built-up areas. None of the reviews we use measured the 450V, but on a lawn this size expect it to be out for long stretches.

Why consider it: A big all-wheel-drive mower with a 40cm cut, and reviewers loved its dead-straight stripes.

The compromise: Setup had hiccups, and it needs open sky for its satellite aerial.
