What we know

The one hands-on test comes from The Pool Nerd, a site linked to a Dolphin dealer that generally prefers corded robots. In its small, flat container pool the battery lasted about an hour, not two, and the suction struggled with anything bigger than small leaves. In a Reddit owner thread, several owners describe runs ending after 15 to 20 minutes on a full charge. WYBOT itself says the A1 is best suited to flat, above-ground pools.

The Pool Nerd, hands-on (Site linked to a Dolphin dealer)

Short runs are the main complaint

WYBOT claims up to two hours, but The Pool Nerd got about an hour in its tests. In a Reddit owner thread, one owner described run after run ending after roughly 15 to 20 minutes, despite a full charge and a basket that wasn't full, and other A1 owners replied that they'd seen the same. The original poster sent the unit back. Nobody in the thread found a fix, so we don't know the cause or how many robots are affected.

Fine for small debris only

The Pool Nerd found it handled small stuff like little leaves but had a hard time with anything bigger, and says many owners report the same. Its mesh and foam filter did better than Aiper's cheap Seagull SE in that test, but it's nowhere near the fine filters on pricier robots. If your pool collects sand, bugs and small leaves, it may cope. If big leaves land in it, it probably won't.

Flat floors, and nothing else

It cleans the floor only, and WYBOT limits it to pools with slopes under 15 degrees, per WYBOT. Its own FAQ says it's best on flat surfaces and above-ground pools, and can take two to ten minutes to free itself from liner wrinkles or drains. The Pool Nerd's completely flat pool gave it no trouble, but the site passes on owner reports of it stalling on slight slopes and bumps. Measure your pool's slope before buying.

Reliability is still unclear

The Reddit owner thread thread describes repeated early stops, but says little about fine-dirt pickup or units that keep working, and one thread can't tell you how common the problem is. None of the sources we found covers a full season of use. WYBOT lists a one-year warranty, so check which version the seller supplies and what support covers. There's too much uncertainty here to recommend buying the A1 just to see whether it works in your pool.

Our take

Should you buy the A1?

Best for: Small, flat pools where only the floor needs cleaning. Skip it if: You want stronger evidence of battery life and reliability.

The limited evidence makes the A1 difficult to recommend, even for a small, flat pool. Short-run complaints and weak pickup in the dealer-linked test are reasons to compare better-tested alternatives. The WYBOT C2 adds walls and waterline cleaning, while the Beatbot Sora 10 has an encouraging hands-on test, though steps remain a weakness.

The A1 is the cheapest robot in WYBOT's range and it only cleans the floor. WYBOT says it suits flat-bottomed pools with slopes under fifteen degrees, up to about a hundred square metres, and a built-in timer can repeat the clean up to four times over a week. It parks itself when it has finished, and the current listing is a 2026 update.

There is only one hands-on test, from The Pool Nerd, a site linked to a Dolphin dealer that generally prefers corded robots. It ran the A1 in a small flat container pool and found weak suction, with the battery lasting about an hour rather than the claimed two. Several owners also report it stopping after fifteen to twenty minutes. Walls, the waterline and steps stay your job, a pool that slopes into a deep end is out, and the filter is foam rather than the finer layers on dearer robots.

The questions people ask about this one

Will it work in an above-ground pool?

Yes, that's what it's best at. WYBOT says it suits flat surfaces and above-ground pools, and the specifications limits it to floors with slopes under 15 degrees. It can take a few minutes to free itself from liner wrinkles or drains.

Does it climb walls and clean the waterline?

No. It's a floor-only cleaner, per the specifications. If you want the walls or waterline scrubbed, the C2 and B1 are the models in WYBOT's range with wall and waterline modes.

Is it cordless, and how long does a charge last?

It's cordless, with up to 120 minutes claimed, per the specifications. The Pool Nerd got about an hour. Several owners in a Reddit owner thread describe runs ending after 15 to 20 minutes on a full charge, so time yours early on.

Does it handle leaves as well as fine dirt?

Small debris, yes; bigger leaves, not really. The Pool Nerd found it struggled with anything larger than little leaves, and its 180-micron foam filter is coarser than the fine filters on pricier robots, per the specifications.

Can it cope with steps and a deep end?

No. the specifications limits it to flat-bottomed pools with slopes under 15 degrees, and it doesn't climb. The Pool Nerd passes on owner reports of it stalling even on slight slopes, so it's not for a pool with a deep end.

Why consider it: Another simple floor cleaner for small, flat-bottomed pools; one owner found it easy to get going.

The compromise: A single owner report is far too little to judge its reliability.

Why consider it: PCWorld found it a credible, simple cleaner that's light to lift and easy to maintain.

WYBOT · $429

C2

$259.03 more than the A1
