WINBOT W2 OMNI
2 independent reviewsRead the findings →Ecovacs's older window robot with a carry-around battery station, since replaced by newer models. It cleans big windows, glass doors and mirrors well with few streaks. It misses corners and edges, though, so you'll still wipe those by hand.

What reviewers found
Two home tests, both impressed. How-To Geek found it cleared caked-on dust from windows and left mirrors streak-free, though it missed bits in corners and along edges and fell short of a professional finish. Tom's Guide used it every few weeks for months on floor-to-ceiling windows and got streak-free results in minutes. Both liked that it works without the app, and both point out you still move it between panes and rinse the pads.

Cleaning result
Mixed resultsStreaks weren't a problem: Tom's Guide got streak-free floor-to-ceiling windows, and How-To Geek found caked-on dust mostly cleared with little residue. But How-To Geek saw debris left in corners and along edges, and judged it short of a professional finish.
Safety
Reviewers rate it highlyHow-To Geek never had its suction fail and liked the separate anchor for the base station, and Tom's Guide found it stayed safely attached to ten-foot windows over months of use.
Surfaces it suits
Not enough evidenceOnly How-To Geek tried other surfaces: a frameless shower and big mirrors worked well, but it warns the glass must be square or rectangular with no cracks or raised details. No second review we use tried this.
Ease of use
Reviewers rate it highlyTom's Guide found setup quick and the app optional, and How-To Geek liked that it works the same anywhere without the app. Both still move it between panes and rinse the pads by hand.
Noise
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has tested its noise yet.
Value
Mixed resultsTom's Guide thinks it's worth every penny for big windows, but How-To Geek found the price a serious investment given the limited glass it can handle.
Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works
Cleans big glass well
Tom's Guide went from pollen-tinted, ten-foot windows to streak-free glass in minutes, and said it did a better job than a bucket and squeegee. How-To Geek found it cleared most of the dirt even on windows with caked-on dust, without leaving much residue behind. It rated the result above a quick go with a spray bottle and rag, but below a professional window cleaner.
Corners and edges need a wipe
How-To Geek noticed debris left in the corners and along some edges, easy enough to clear with a paper towel or rag. That's the same weak spot testers found on the later W2 PRO OMNI. Tom's Guide didn't mention corners, but its windows were floor-to-ceiling panes. If crisp corners matter to you, plan on a quick finish by hand, or look at the newer models with edge scrubbers.
Mirrors and showers work too
How-To Geek tried it on a frameless glass shower, and thanks to its edge sensor it never ran off the side or top. A floor-to-ceiling wardrobe mirror came out without streaks, and a large bathroom mirror ended up cleaner than a wipe by hand. The limit is the glass itself: How-To Geek says it needs square or rectangular panes without cracks or raised details, which can break its grip.
Still a hands-on job
You carry it to each window, attach it and wait for the chime. Tom's Guide found itself moving it every few minutes, rinsing pads and refilling the tank between panes, but didn't mind given the effort saved. How-To Geek only got through two dirty outside panes, roughly three by five feet, before the pad needed washing, though it managed far more indoor panes. It found neither the battery nor the cable length held it back.
This page covers the original W2 OMNI from 2024, not the W2 PRO OMNI or W2S models. Both reviews date from 2024.
Our take
Should you buy the WINBOT W2 OMNI?
Best for: Large panes or glass partitions needing regular upkeep. Skip it if: You do not want to rinse pads or finish corners by hand.
Only buy it if you find remaining stock heavily discounted and you have large windows, glass doors or mirrors to do. The WINBOT W2S OMNI is the current model with edge scrubbers, and the W3 OMNI washes the pad for you.
The W2 OMNI is a window robot that runs from a battery station rather than a wall socket, so you can clean glass with no plug nearby. The station holds the battery, stores the robot and its bits, and reels the cable in and out. Ecovacs has since replaced it with the W2 PRO OMNI and then the W2S models, and its own shops show it as sold out.
Both testers were pleased with big panes. Tom's Guide took pollen-covered floor-to-ceiling windows to a streak-free finish in minutes and said it did a better job than a bucket and squeegee. How-To Geek found it cleared most caked-on dust and left mirrors and a frameless shower streak-free, but saw debris left in corners and along edges and judged it short of a professional finish. Neither tester ever had it lose its grip. It is still a hands-on job. You carry it to each pane and rinse the pad by hand, and How-To Geek could only do two dirty outside panes before the pad needed washing. Unlike the W2 PRO OMNI, it can't clean while the station is plugged in.

The questions people ask about this one
Will it work on frameless glass?
Yes. Ecovacs lists framed and frameless glass, per the specifications, and How-To Geek used it on a frameless glass shower without it running off the edge. It also coped with tall wardrobe mirrors and a big wall mirror.
What happens if the power cuts out?
the specifications claims a temporary hold after power loss, giving you time to take the robot down safely. Fix the safety cable, separate anchor and station as ECOVACS directs before every run. Take it down promptly after a power or grip warning rather than counting on the full claimed backup time.
Does it leave streaks or edges?
Few streaks: Tom's Guide got streak-free glass and How-To Geek found none on a mirror. Edges are the weak point, though. How-To Geek saw debris left in corners and along some edges, easy to wipe away by hand.
How long does one window take?
Ecovacs quotes about two minutes per square metre in fast mode, per the specifications. Tom's Guide found a big pane took a few minutes before the chime told it to move on. Allow extra time for rinsing pads on dirty outside glass.
Does it need a special cleaning fluid?
Use the liquid and dilution allowed in ECOVACS' current instructions. Tom's Guide used water and dampened the pad, but didn't look at how other cleaners affect the robot over time. Check with ECOVACS before putting any household glass cleaner in the tank.
Alternatives
Other window-cleaning robots to compare.

WINBOT W2S OMNI
Why consider it: It's the current version, and three tests found it cleans everyday dirt well and gets closer to the edges than most.
The compromise: Corners still aren't perfect, and you move it between panes and wash the pad yourself.

WINBOT W3 OMNI
Why consider it: Its station washes the cleaning pad for you, which takes the grottiest chore out of window robots.
The compromise: It's still slow to move between panes and can streak smaller windows.

C1 Station
Why consider it: Its portable station also means no hunting for sockets, and testers found it good on regularly cleaned glass.
The compromise: It's heavy, fairly loud and won't shift stubborn marks.
