Automower 310E NERA
2 independent reviewsRead the findings →Husqvarna's mid-sized satellite-guided mower, with a second blade disc that trims close to the edges. It suits open, tidy lawns, leaving a neat, striped finish. It has no camera, though, so it runs over small objects.

What reviewers found
Two home tests, both from 2024 and both using Husqvarna's older satellite add-on kit. PC-WELT, publishing a test by its Swedish sister site M3, had Husqvarna install it and found a lovely cut with neat edges, but it ran over small objects and once lost part of its map. selbst ist der Mann used it for several weeks and praised how flexible it is and how easy the app is, with no real complaints. Both liked the mowing, and only PC-WELT tested obstacles.

Cut quality and edges
Not enough evidenceOnly PC-WELT judged the cut in detail, finding it beautiful with no wheel tracks, and the second disc trimmed closer to edges than rivals, though a quick strim was still needed. selbst ist der Mann describes the edge disc without assessing the result.
Setup and boundaries
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use set it up alone: Husqvarna installed PC-WELT's unit, and selbst ist der Mann describes fitting the older satellite kit and driving the border by phone without saying how hard it was. The current Wi-Fi-based version is untested.
Navigation
Not enough evidenceOnly PC-WELT reported on navigation: it varied its route through narrow passages, but part of one side of the map vanished mid-test until fixed in the app. selbst ist der Mann didn't assess it.
Slopes and rough ground
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has tested it on slopes or rough ground yet.
Obstacles and safety
Not enough evidenceOnly PC-WELT tested obstacles: with no camera or radar, it ran over several small test objects, so clear the lawn first. selbst ist der Mann didn't test this.
Weather
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has tested it in the rain or on wet grass yet.
App and software
Reviewers rate it highlyPC-WELT rated the app really good, with zones that each have their own settings, despite one map glitch that was easy to fix. selbst ist der Mann found it simple for setting borders, no-go areas and schedules and checking on the mower.
Upkeep
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has covered blade changes or cleaning yet.
Reliability and support
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has run it long-term or judged Husqvarna's support.
Value
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has judged its value for money yet. PC-WELT notes the satellite kit cost extra on the version it tested.
Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works
A lovely cut, edges included
Over several weeks, PC-WELT found the lawn cut beautifully, with no visible lines or wheel tracks, because the mower varies its route through narrow passages. The second blade disc cut very close to edges and obstacles, leaving less grass than rival mowers, though a quick strim was still needed. selbst ist der Mann also highlights the edge-cutting disc. If a tidy, striped lawn matters most to you, this is the best part of the package.
No camera, so tidy up first
The 310E finds obstacles by bumping into them. PC-WELT notes it lacks the radar of the pricier 410XE and relies on a physical sensor in the front, which doesn't work well for small things. It ran over several of the test objects laid on the lawn, and the reviewer had to keep an eye out for dog toys. selbst ist der Mann didn't test obstacles. Clear the lawn before it runs, and don't schedule it while children or pets are outside.
Tested with the older add-on kit
Both tests fitted Husqvarna's plug-in satellite module and a separate reference station. selbst ist der Mann explains the station must be mounted high up in the garden, and at PC-WELT Husqvarna did the installation and helped draw the map. Husqvarna now sells it "with EPOS", with the satellite technology included, corrections sent over your Wi-Fi and the reference station optional. That should make setup simpler, but nobody has tested the newer arrangement yet, so check your Wi-Fi reaches the whole lawn first.
Good app, one map glitch
PC-WELT rated the Automower Connect app highly and liked setting up several zones with different cutting settings. Partway through its test, though, a few metres along one side of the map vanished, and the mower stopped cutting there until the map was fixed in the app, which was easy. selbst ist der Mann found the app simple to use, setting the borders by steering the mower round the lawn's edge with a phone.
Both tests used the 2024 version, with the satellite module added as a plug-in kit and a reference station. Husqvarna says the 305E, 310E and 320 NERA have EPOS either integrated or as a plug-in, depending on model year. The current UK model is sold "with EPOS", with corrections over Wi-Fi and the reference station optional.
Our take
Should you buy the Automower 310E NERA?
Best for: Open lawns kept clear of toys and hoses. Skip it if: Toys, hoses or other small objects are often left on the grass.
buy it for a mid-sized, open lawn that is usually clear of clutter, if a striped and neatly edged finish is what you care about. Go for the 305E NERA if your lawn is under 900m², or the camera-equipped 410VE NERA for object detection. Keep children and pets off the lawn while it mows.
The 310E NERA is the larger version of the 305E NERA, rated for lawns up to 1,500m² when mowing in stripes. It can follow a buried perimeter wire or work by satellite, with the lawn's edges drawn in the app. A small second blade disc cuts close to the borders. There is no camera, so it only knows about a hose or a toy once it hits it.
Both tests are from 2024 and both used Husqvarna's older plug-in satellite kit and reference station. PC-WELT, running a test from its Swedish sister site M3, had Husqvarna install it and found the lawn cut beautifully with no wheel tracks, and the edge disc trimmed closer than rival mowers, though a quick strim was still needed. It also ran over several small test objects, and part of the map vanished mid-test until fixed in the app. selbst ist der Mann used it for several weeks, praised how flexible it is and found the app simple, with no real complaints. The current version gets corrections over Wi-Fi instead, and nobody has tested that arrangement.

The questions people ask about this one
Does it need a boundary wire?
No. It can run on virtual boundaries drawn in the app, or on a perimeter wire, per the specifications. For wire-free mowing, Husqvarna says you need Wi-Fi across the whole lawn, or its optional reference station. PC-WELT and selbst ist der Mann both tested with an older add-on kit and a reference station.
Will it avoid toys and garden hoses?
No. There's no camera or radar, so it only reacts once its bumper touches something. PC-WELT saw it run over several small test objects and had to watch for dog toys. Clear the lawn before each run.
How close does it cut to the edge?
Close. A second small disc trims near the border, per the specifications, and PC-WELT found it left less grass along edges and around obstacles than rival mowers. You'll still need an occasional strim, but much less of one.
Will it cope with my slope?
Husqvarna rates it for 30% inside the lawn and 20% along the boundary, per the specifications. Neither PC-WELT nor selbst ist der Mann reports on slopes, so those limits haven't been checked independently. For steep ground, look at a mower rated higher.
How big a lawn can it really handle?
Husqvarna says 1,500m² mowing in stripes and 1,000m² in random mode, with about 50 minutes per charge, per the specifications. PC-WELT concluded it does its job well on lawns up to 1,000m², so treat the bigger figure as a best case.
Is there a subscription for 4G or anti-theft?
It connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with a cellular kit available as an option, per the specifications. Theft protection is a GeoFence alarm plus lift and tilt sensors, per the specifications, and PC-WELT lists a PIN code too. There's no GPS theft tracking mentioned.

Automower 305E NERA
£174.83 less than the Automower 310E NERA
Why consider it: Two reviews agree it cuts neatly and its edge disc trims borders well, for lawns up to 900m².
The compromise: A tester who installed it alone beside tall trees struggled with satellite reception and setup.

Automower 410VE NERA
£508.50 more than the Automower 310E NERA
Why consider it: The same 1,500m² rating with a camera, and an early UK owner found it handled a garden with play equipment.
The compromise: That's one early account, so it's too soon to say how it copes long term.

LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000
£200 less than the Automower 310E NERA
Why consider it: All-wheel drive, no aerial to fit, and a side edge disc that reviewers found cut grass other mowers leave behind.
The compromise: Raised borders still need a strimmer, and a tester hit app limits on how far apart zones can be.

Husqvarna Automower 305E NERA vs Automower 310E NERA
Our verdict: Choose by lawn size. Both have the edge disc, satellite guidance and no camera, and testers of both praised the cut and the edges. The 305E is built for lawns up to 900m²; the 310E only earns its place if your lawn is bigger than that.
