What reviewers found

EasyLawnMowing and MORE Magazine reviewed the 1000 model. Car Play Life tested the LUBA mini 2 family but doesn't say which capacity it had. All three praised the cut and the quiet running, while edge results depended on the kind of border. None of them reported testing it on a slope anywhere near the claimed maximum. Check which version each reviewer tested and whether it's rated for your lawn size.

EasyLawnMowing, hands-on, Tested at home, April 2026 · MORE Magazine, hands-on, May 2026 · Car Play Life, hands-on, Apr 2026

  • Cut quality and edges

    Mixed results

All three liked the cut, but the edge disc depends on your edges. On a flat stone edge EasyLawnMowing had almost no trimming left, while Car Play Life still found an 8 to 10cm strip along raised borders, and MORE Magazine saw a small strip remain.

  • Setup and boundaries

    Mixed results

Car Play Life assembled it in minutes and mapped a small garden quickly. MORE Magazine found the camera module fiddly and setup not self-explanatory, and EasyLawnMowing hit new limits on how far zones can sit from the dock.

  • Navigation

    Reviewers rate it highly

EasyLawnMowing watched it cross uneven stone sections without snaking, and Car Play Life saw it cover almost the whole lawn without help, only struggling in tight corners. Check the zone distance rules if your lawns are far apart.

  • Rough ground and slopes

Positive results on uneven ground; maximum slope not verified

Car Play Life reported good handling of bumps, small steps and dips, and EasyLawnMowing crossed uneven stone. Neither reported testing anything close to Mammotion's maximum slope rating.

  • Obstacles and safety

    Mixed results

EasyLawnMowing saw it detect every object it laid out, including flat ones. Car Play Life saw it avoid hoses, balls, shoes and gloves but run over small, low items, so pick up anything flat first.

  • Weather

    Reviewers rate it highly

Both MORE Magazine and Car Play Life found the rain sensor stops it when it gets wet, and both recommend letting it mow dry grass for a better finish.

  • App and software

    Mixed results

MORE Magazine found the app powerful but overwhelming for beginners. Car Play Life had it fail to reconnect at times and Bluetooth drop during manual driving, and EasyLawnMowing found some satellite detail missing from the newer software.

  • Upkeep

    Not enough evidence

Only Car Play Life reported on cleaning and blades, finding little build-up underneath and double-sided blades that are simple to swap. EasyLawnMowing and MORE Magazine liked that the battery comes out from a rear panel.

  • Reliability and support

    Not enough evidence

No qualifying review has run it long-term or judged Mammotion's support.

  • Value

    Not enough evidence

Only MORE Magazine weighed the price, calling it high but the package very convincing. No other qualifying review judged value for money.

Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works

The edge disc works on flat edges

EasyLawnMowing tested it where another mower had left 7 to 10cm uncut, and along a stony edge it was left with virtually no trimming, apart from a few awkward corners. Car Play Life saw a real improvement too, but still had an 8 to 10cm strip along raised borders. MORE Magazine found a small strip remained depending on the edge. The difference is the kind of edge: level paths and stones suit it, walls and raised beds don't. The side disc is fixed at 50mm, so EasyLawnMowing warns of a slight height step on very short lawns.

Check the zone distance rules

In April 2026 EasyLawnMowing found the first mapped zone had to be within five metres of the dock, with a practical limit of about 50 metres of path between zones. Those limits didn't exist on the original LUBA mini. The app also lost some satellite detail the older model showed, which Mammotion said would return in an update. If your lawns are far apart, check how the current software behaves before you buy.

Rough ground yes, steep slopes untested

EasyLawnMowing watched it cross uneven stone sections without snaking and says it handles slopes brilliantly, though it doesn't describe a steep test. Car Play Life had no trouble with bumps, small steps and dips around flowerbeds but had no steep slope to try. MORE Magazine tested on flat ground, where the all-wheel drive was barely needed. The drive clearly helps on lumpy lawns, but the 80% rating is still only Mammotion's claim, so don't buy it for a steep bank on this evidence.

Obstacles: good, with a small-object gap

EasyLawnMowing’s unit spotted the test objects it placed on the lawn. Car Play Life avoided larger items such as shoes and balls but ran over some small, low objects. So there's no reliable minimum size it will always see. Walk the lawn first and pick up toys, loose objects and pet waste, rather than trusting the sensors to do it for you.

Heavy, quiet and easy to service

At around 15kg, MORE Magazine calls the name misleading, and EasyLawnMowing found it heavy to carry for drop-and-mow on another lawn. All three found it quiet. Both EasyLawnMowing and MORE Magazine liked that the battery comes out from a rear panel with four screws. Car Play Life had the app fail to reconnect at times and Bluetooth drop during manual driving, even close to the mower.

Covers the camera-guided LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000. The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1500 uses a laser scanner and is a different model. Car Play Life doesn't name the capacity, but describes the camera-and-satellite version sold as the 1000.

Our take

Should you buy the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000?

Best for: Smaller lawns with slopes or uneven ground. Skip it if: Your lawn is small and flat, with no need for extra grip.

buy it for a sloping or bumpy lawn with flat paths or stone edges you are tired of strimming. On a flat, simple lawn the YUKA mini 2 1000 does the job for less.

The LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000 has all-wheel drive and a small side cutting disc for closer work along paths and borders. It uses cameras and internet-delivered satellite corrections, so it does not require a boundary wire or a separate positioning antenna installed in the garden. An optional antenna arrangement is a separate setup choice.

All three testers liked the cut, but the edge disc only helps on some edges. EasyLawnMowing was left with almost no trimming along a flat stone edge, while Car Play Life still had a strip along raised borders and MORE Magazine saw a small strip remain. Car Play Life found it sure-footed over bumps, steps and dips, though nobody tested a slope anywhere near Mammotion's rating. EasyLawnMowing found the first mapped zone had to sit close to the dock and there was a limit on how far apart lawns can be, so check the current software if yours are spread out. At about 15kg it is heavy to carry between lawns, and Car Play Life had the app fail to reconnect at times.

Before you buy

The questions people ask about this one

Does it need a boundary wire or an aerial?

Neither. It gets satellite corrections over Wi-Fi or the built-in 4G, so there's no aerial to mount, per the specifications and EasyLawnMowing. MORE Magazine notes you can add an optional aerial at the dock if your reception is poor.

Will it cope with my slope?

Mammotion rates it for 80% (38.6°), which is unusually steep for a small mower, per the specifications. None of the three testers describes a slope that steep: Car Play Life and EasyLawnMowing confirmed it handles bumps, dips and stone crossings well. The drive clearly helps on rough ground, but the headline figure is untested.

Can it handle separate lawns?

The specification allows up to ten zones. In April 2026, EasyLawnMowing found limits on how far the first zone can be from the dock and how far apart zones can sit. That's software at a point in time, so check the current rules for your garden. None of the reviews measured the narrowest passage it will take. For a lawn it can't drive to, you can carry it over and use drop-and-mow.

How close does it cut to the edge?

Closer than most. Mammotion says the side disc reaches 5.5cm from walls, per the specifications. On flat or stony edges EasyLawnMowing had almost no trimming left, but Car Play Life still found an 8 to 10cm strip along raised borders. Keep a strimmer for walls and raised beds.

Is there a subscription for 4G?

The terms cited by EasyLawnMowing include three years of mobile data and ongoing satellite-correction service. After that, you may need to renew the data. Check the current UK plan before buying, because having Wi-Fi in the garden doesn't tell you which features keep working without a mobile subscription.

What happens when it rains?

It's rated IPX6, per the specifications, and a rain sensor on top sends it back to the dock. MORE Magazine and Car Play Life both describe it stopping when it gets wet, and both recommend letting it mow dry grass for a better finish.

YUKA mini 2 1000

£400 less than the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000

Why consider it: Laser guidance keeps working under trees and near tall fences, and it passes through 55cm gaps.

The compromise: Two-wheel drive limits it to 45% slopes, and one owner reports boundary trouble after software updates.

Why consider it: Another all-wheel-drive mower with no aerial to fit, built for uneven lawns up to 800m².

The compromise: One detailed owner report describes serious positioning problems next to a building.

ECOVACS · £940

GOAT O1200 LiDAR PRO

£459 less than the LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000

Why consider it: A string trimmer on the side tackles edges the LUBA's disc can't reach, such as hedges.

The compromise: It's two-wheel drive, the trimmer is loud, and it needs wider gaps to get between lawns.

Head to head

Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000 vs LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000

Our verdict: Choose the LUBA mini 2 if your lawn slopes or has flat edges you're tired of strimming: it has all-wheel drive and a side edge disc. Choose the YUKA mini 2 1000 for a flatter lawn under trees, where its laser guidance and lower price make more sense.
