i2 AWD
2 independent reviewsRead the findings →Segway's all-wheel-drive mower for bumpy, sloping lawns, usually with no wire or aerial to fit. It sets up quickly and grips where smaller mowers slide. You'll still trim the edges, though, and tight strips beside walls can confuse it.

What reviewers found
Two home tests. Maison et Domotique ran the 800m² i208 AWD on a sloping, uneven garden with several zones, and TestsiegerTV tried the 600m² i206 AWD on a flat lawn in early February. Both liked the quick setup, the tidy stripes and the obstacle spotting, and both still had grass left at the edges. They disagree on rain: Maison et Domotique says it only follows the forecast, while TestsiegerTV describes weather sensors. An owner on Reddit owner adds a warning about positioning in narrow strips beside a house.
Maison et Domotique, hands-on, Jul 2026 · TestsiegerTV, hands-on, Jul 2026 (tested on the i206 AWD)
Cut quality and edges
Mixed resultsBoth liked the tidy stripes, but both had grass left at the edges. Maison et Domotique found flush edges fine but a strip remained by walls and fences, and TestsiegerTV saw about 10cm left after automatic mapping.
Setup and boundaries
Mixed resultsNeither needed the aerial. Maison et Domotique found setup over the mobile network convincing, but TestsiegerTV's first dock spot had poor reception, and the app kept the old position until reinstalled on another phone.
Navigation
Mixed resultsMaison et Domotique found it held its line on ground sloping towards a border, where other robots drift. TestsiegerTV found a hand-drawn map let it stray 10 to 15cm off its set line, so leave a buffer by beds.
Slopes and rough ground
Not enough evidenceOnly Maison et Domotique tested uneven, sloping ground, finding it steadier than two-wheel-drive mowers on slopes, mud and damp turns, but not for truly steep ground. TestsiegerTV's lawn was flat.
Obstacles and safety
Reviewers rate it highlyMaison et Domotique saw the camera pick out pots, balls, toys, furniture, people and animals, and TestsiegerTV found a ball and toy hedgehog spotted reliably. Very low objects and thin string can still catch it.
Weather
Not enough evidenceOnly Maison et Domotique reported how it behaved: it goes by the forecast, so it sometimes stayed home while its lawn was dry. TestsiegerTV describes weather sensors but didn't report testing them.
App and software
Mixed resultsMaison et Domotique found the app clear and complete, with easy updates and nothing buried in submenus. TestsiegerTV had it keep an old dock position even after a reset, fixed only by reinstalling on a second phone.
Upkeep
Not enough evidenceOnly Maison et Domotique covered upkeep, advising a gentle spray, brush and cloth rather than a pressure washer. No other review we use reported on it.
Reliability and support
Not enough evidenceNo review we use has run it long-term or judged Segway's support.
Value
Not enough evidenceNo review we use has judged its value for money yet.
Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works
Extra grip where the ground misbehaves
This is the reason to buy it. Maison et Domotique has parts of its garden that slope towards a border, where ordinary robots drift and sometimes touch the fence. The i208 AWD held its line much better, and also coped with muddy patches, compacted ground and turns on inclines. Even so, the tester is clear it's not a machine for truly steep ground. TestsiegerTV's i206 lawn was too flat to push it, so it could only watch the pivoting rear wheel at work. None of the reviews we use has measured the 45% slope claim yet.
Quick setup, if the dock sees sky
Neither tester needed the aerial in the box. Maison et Domotique found positioning over the mobile network convincing on its own, and advises keeping the dock away from dense trees and tall walls. TestsiegerTV learned that the hard way: the first dock spot had poor reception, and the app kept the old dock position even after a reset, which it only fixed by reinstalling on a second phone. After that, automatic mapping built the map in minutes. Choose the dock spot carefully before you start.
Edges still need a strimmer
The blade disc sits under the body, so both testers had grass left along borders. Maison et Domotique found open, flush edges fine but a strip remained along walls, fences and raised beds. TestsiegerTV saw about 10cm left when it mapped the lawn automatically. Mapping by hand let it run over the edging stones, but it then strayed 10 to 15cm from its set line, so you need a buffer if you don't want it in the flower beds. Plan on a quick trim every so often.
Good at spotting everyday clutter
Maison et Domotique saw the front camera pick out pots, balls, branches, toys, furniture, people and animals, slowing down and steering round them. Very low objects and thin string could still catch it out, though. TestsiegerTV found a ball and a toy hedgehog were spotted reliably. If low branches over a narrow path make it refuse to pass, Maison et Domotique notes you can relax the camera in that zone. Still pick up hoses and small toys before a run.
Rain handling: the testers disagree
Maison et Domotique says rain handling relies only on weather data. On its plot, where rain can fall a few hundred metres away and miss the garden, the mower stayed home while the lawn was dry. TestsiegerTV describes sensors that react to rain, snow and wind and can pause mowing if you choose. Navimow's manual talks about reacting to real-time weather information, which fits the forecast explanation better. Either way it's rated IP66, so a shower won't hurt it.
Narrow strips beside buildings
An owner on Reddit owner says positioning worked well in open space but went wrong in the narrow areas beside the house. The mower kept correcting its turns, spun its wheels, damaged the grass and ran into walls. Support suggested mowing those strips by remote control but didn't fix the cause. That's one owner, not a pattern, but it fits the general advice to give it open sky. If your lawn is mostly tight side passages, ask for a demonstration first.
This page covers every i2 AWD size. Maison et Domotique tested the 800m² i208 AWD. TestsiegerTV tested the 600m² i206 AWD, the same mower with a smaller battery. The i2 LiDAR models are different machines and aren't covered here.
Our take
Should you buy the i2 AWD?
Best for: Smaller lawns with slopes or uneven ground. Skip it if: Trees or buildings block the sky over much of your lawn.
buy it for a bumpy, sloping or often damp lawn under 1,000m² where you want to skip the wire. On a flat lawn you're paying for grip you won't use, and if your grass is shaded or squeezed between buildings the Mammotion YUKA mini 2 1000 navigates by laser instead.
The i2 AWD follows Navimow's popular i105E and i108E, in four sizes from the i205 to the i210 for lawns up to 1,000m². They share one body and differ mainly in battery. The big change is a third driven wheel, which helps it hold its line on slopes, slanting borders and damp turns, and Navimow rates it for steeper slopes than the older models. It steers by satellite positioning corrected over the mobile network, plus a front camera, so most gardens need no wire and no aerial. The cut is narrow, so a bigger lawn takes several sessions with recharges between them.
Maison et Domotique found the extra grip real. On ground sloping towards a border, where other robots drift, it held its line, and it coped with mud and turns on inclines, though the tester says it's not for truly steep ground. TestsiegerTV's lawn was too flat to push it. Both liked the tidy stripes and both had grass left at the edges. Maison et Domotique found flush edges fine but a strip remained by walls and fences, and TestsiegerTV saw about 10cm left after automatic mapping. Both found obstacle spotting reliable, with the camera picking out pots, balls, toys, people and animals for Maison et Domotique. TestsiegerTV's first dock spot had poor reception, and the app kept the old position until it was reinstalled on another phone. An owner on Reddit found it lost its bearings in narrow strips beside the house.

The questions people ask about this one
Does it need a boundary wire or an aerial?
No wire. It uses satellite positioning corrected over the mobile network, and an aerial comes in the box for poor coverage, per the specifications. Neither Maison et Domotique nor TestsiegerTV needed to fit it. You do need a dock spot with open sky around it.
Will it cope with my slope?
It's rated for 45% (24°), per the specifications. Maison et Domotique found it much steadier than two-wheel-drive mowers on slopes, slanting borders and damp turns, but calls it a mower for medium gardens, not truly steep ground. None of the reviews we use has measured the full rating yet.
How close does it cut to the edge?
Not right up to walls or fences. Maison et Domotique had a strip left along hard edges, and TestsiegerTV saw about 10cm left after automatic mapping. Mapping by hand gets it closer to flush edges, but it can wander 10 to 15cm off its line.
What happens when it rains?
It's rated IP66 and adjusts its schedule for rain, snow, frost, heat and wind, per the specifications. Maison et Domotique found it goes by the forecast, so it sometimes stayed home when the lawn was dry. TestsiegerTV describes rain, snow and wind sensors instead.
Is there a subscription for 4G?
After the first year, yes. The first year of 4G data is included and renewable in the app, while the positioning service stays free, per the specifications. Maison et Domotique says 4G handles remote control, live tracking and anti-theft alerts.
Does it need a clear view of the sky?
Mostly, yes. Maison et Domotique advises keeping the dock away from dense trees and tall walls, and TestsiegerTV had to move its dock for better reception. An owner on Reddit owner found positioning went wrong in narrow strips beside the house.
Alternatives
Other robot lawn mowers to compare.

YUKA mini 2 1000
Why consider it: Laser guidance means it navigates confidently under trees and through narrow gaps without satellite help.
The compromise: It struggled on a steep test slope and can leave a strip along raised edges.

LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000
Why consider it: Another all-wheel-drive mower for lawns up to 1,000m², with a side edge disc that leaves far less trimming.
The compromise: Raised borders still need a strimmer, and early software limited how far apart your lawns can be.

E15 Robot Lawn Mower
Why consider it: One of the quickest camera-guided mowers to set up, for lawns up to 800m².
The compromise: Testers with bumpy or damp grass had it slipping and getting stuck.
