MOVA vs Dreame

Dreame, by a nose: where the two share hardware, testers found the Dreame mops better and its software more polished. MOVA is the value pick, and reviewers rate it highly for what you get, so check both prices for the same tier before you buy.

Which suits your home

Start with the thing that matters most to you.

  • The most for your moneyMOVA

This is MOVA's pitch. Vacuum Wars called the P10 Pro Ultra the best value robot of its year, and found the V50 Ultra Complete priced well below rival flagships Vacuum Wars.

  • MoppingDreame

On the shared X50 and V50 body, RTINGS found the Dreame lifted stains better and left less moisture behind, while the MOVA needed several more passes.

  • Mostly hard floors on a budgetMOVA

RTINGS found the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra beat the Dreame L40 Ultra it's based on for hard-floor pickup, obstacle avoidance and battery.

  • Lots of carpetDreame

The P10's side brush doesn't work on carpet, which RTINGS says badly hurts it there, so the Dreame L40 Ultra is the better carpet pick at that level.

  • Dodging clutterMOVA

MOVA's flagship Mobius 60 avoided 22 of 24 obstacles for Vacuum Wars and was reliable around cords and pet waste for RTINGS.

What reviewers say about each range

MOVA

MOVA is a Dreame sub-brand RTINGS, and reviewers mostly judge it on value. Vacuum Wars called the P10 Pro Ultra the best value robot of its year, and found the V50 Ultra Complete priced well below rival flagships Vacuum Wars. The results swing between tests, though: RTINGS found the V50 left fine dust and pet hair behind where Vacuum Wars measured strong pickup, and pet hair in carpet is the P10's weak spot in all three of its tests. Avoidance is a strength on the flagship Mobius 60 Vacuum Wars, while dried stains defeated it in every test RTINGS.

Dreame

Dreame's strengths are climbing and mopping. TechRadar called the X50 Ultra Complete's mopping the most thorough it had seen, and RTINGS measured the L50 Ultra climbing 3.8cm. Like MOVA, home testers tend to like Dreames more than labs do: RTINGS found the X50 missed fine debris, and saw the L50 leave significant debris on hard floors RTINGS. Hair is a recurring niggle, wrapping the L10s Ultra Gen 2's roller for Trusted Reviews.

Where they differ

  1. 01

They're related, and some robots share hardware

MOVA is a sub-brand of Dreame RTINGS. RTINGS found the MOVA V50 Ultra Complete and Dreame X50 Ultra share the same core body, and describes the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra as based on the Dreame L40 Ultra RTINGS. So often you're choosing between two versions of the same idea, not two different companies' robots.

  2. 02

Mopping: Dreame's versions do it better

On the shared X50 and V50 body, RTINGS found the Dreame lifted stains better and left less moisture, while the MOVA needed several more passes and spread more residue. MOVA's flagship Mobius 60 swaps pads automatically, but Vacuum Wars and RTINGS both found dried stains stayed put. TechRadar called the X50's mopping the most thorough it had seen.

  3. 03

    Value: MOVA's strongest card

Reviewers keep coming back to price with MOVA. Vacuum Wars called the P10 Pro Ultra the best value robot of its year, and said the V50 was priced well below rival flagships Vacuum Wars. Dreame's own robots are often discounted too, so compare today's prices for the matching models above rather than assuming MOVA is always cheaper.

  4. 04

    Software: Dreame's is more polished

RTINGS found a software issue stopped the MOVA V50 lowering its sensor to get under furniture by itself, which the Dreame X50 did reliably. Elsewhere MOVA's software has improved on the original: RTINGS credits firmware changes for the P10's better obstacle avoidance than the Dreame L40.

  5. 05

    Both brands split their testers

Neither brand gets consistent reviews. Vacuum Wars measured the V50 lifting 88% of embedded sand, while RTINGS found fine dust left in carpet. RTINGS saw the Dreame L50 leave significant debris on hard floors that home testers didn't report. Read the tests for the exact model you're considering, and buy where returns are easy.

Questions people ask

Is MOVA owned by Dreame?

MOVA is a Dreame sub-brand RTINGS. Some of its robots are built on Dreame hardware: RTINGS found the V50 Ultra Complete shares the X50 Ultra's core body, and says the P10 Pro Ultra is based on the L40 Ultra RTINGS.

Is MOVA just a cheaper Dreame?

Partly. Where they share a body, the cleaning is similar, but not identical. RTINGS found the Dreame X50 mops better than the MOVA V50, but that the MOVA P10 beat the Dreame L40 on hard floors, obstacles and battery RTINGS.

Which brand is better for mopping?

Dreame. On the shared X50 and V50 body, RTINGS found the Dreame lifted stains better with less moisture left behind, and TechRadar called the X50's mopping the most thorough it had seen.

Which brand is better for pet hair?

Neither has a clear lead, and results depend on the test. Vacuum Wars measured strong pet-hair pickup on the MOVA V50, while RTINGS found hair left behind. On the Dreame side, long hair wrapped the L10s Ultra Gen 2's roller for Trusted Reviews.

Do MOVA robots use the same app as Dreame?

MOVA has its own app. Vacuum Wars found it hard to tell apart from a top competitor's, and TechGearLab found it intuitive and clean, with easy multi-floor maps and no-go zones.
