Vacuum Wars measured excellent carpet deep cleaning and substantially improved mopping compared with the original Edge. PCWorld also found convincing vacuuming and edge cleaning at home, helped by the extending brush and mop. The evidence supports paying attention to cleaning quality rather than assuming the slimmer chassis is only cosmetic.

PCWorld found the retracting navigation tower useful for reaching lower furniture. The same test found modest threshold-crossing ability: the Edge 2 does not have the lifting chassis used by some higher models. Low furniture and tall room transitions are separate problems, and success with one does not establish success with the other.

Vacuum Wars’ obstacle course result was below its average and slightly worse than the original Edge’s result. Its small onboard bin also makes large volumes of pet hair a concern between dock visits. Good carpet pickup is not the same as being able to clean a heavily shedding home unattended for an entire run.

Vacuum Wars praised detailed routines, room settings and remote camera viewing. PCWorld highlighted the absence of a detergent tank. Our interpretation is that this is a strong cleaning-focused option for fairly tidy homes, with less reason to choose it primarily for advanced obstacle handling or exceptional climbing.
