A strong option for buyers who prioritise cleaning hardware and can keep floors clear. It offers automatic mop removal and dual rollers, but the Ultra AE performed better around small obstacles. Pick for your layout rather than assuming Ultra is the best version.

This is a robot floor-cleaning system. Obstacle avoidance uses 3DAdapt structured light; different from Ultra AE camera system and the dock provides hot-water pad washing, heated drying and auto emptying.
What reviewers found
The L40s Ultra is a strong cleaner with a surprisingly weak small-object result in the available direct comparison. Its more expensive position within the L40s family does not mean it has the best obstacle avoidance.
Carpet cleaning is a strength
Vacuum Wars measured excellent embedded-sand removal and useful pet-hair pickup from the Ultra. Its dual-roller system and cleaning performance make it interesting for households where carpet is the main workload. These findings are specific to that test and should not be expanded into a claim that no manual deep cleaning is needed.

The Ultra avoided only seven of 24 test objects in the same comparison, while the Ultra AE avoided 19. Dreame’s own table confirms the models use different avoidance hardware. A buyer choosing the Ultra for its brushes should therefore still expect to remove loose objects before scheduled runs.

Vacuum Wars judged all three L40s models generally good at mopping, with the AE ahead overall. Dreame confirms the Ultra can leave its pads at the station and extend both its side brush and mop. Those functions are useful distinctions from the AE and CE, rather than evidence that every Ultra result must be superior.

Dreame specifies a 22mm single step and a 40mm two-step transition for this model. The larger number is not a vertical doorstep guarantee. Our interpretation is to compare the actual doorway shape and the need to clear clutter before deciding whether the Ultra’s extra hardware solves your home’s problems.
