What we know

iRobot's product pages describe a laser-mapping robot vacuum and mop that's 7.89cm tall, with a claimed 15,000Pa of suction, twice the Roomba 105's. It wipes hard floors with a microfibre pad fed from a small tank, and steers round rugs rather than lifting the pad. Reviews of the Roomba 105 Combo or older Combo models don't carry over, because the 115 has a lower body and more claimed suction.

What iRobot promises

iRobot lists laser mapping that handles multi-room layouts and up to three floors, room-by-room cleaning, and a claimed 15,000Pa of suction, which it says is twice the Roomba 105's. It also claims up to about 83 square metres per charge. At 7.89cm tall, it's much lower than the 105, so it should reach under more sofas and beds.

A basic mop you look after

The mop is a washable microfibre pad fed from a water tank in the robot's bin, according to iRobot, and it's rated for about 30 washes. There's no pad lifting or scrubbing, and the dock doesn't wash it. No Mop Zones in the app keep it off rugs. Expect a light wipe for dust and footprints, not a fix for dried spills.

Two dock choices

iRobot sells the 115 Combo with a plain charging dock or with an AutoEmpty dock that empties the robot's bin into a bag. With the plain dock, you empty the bin by hand after most runs. The AutoEmpty version costs more but takes care of the most frequent chore, so decide which you need before comparing prices.

Still to be proven

So far everything comes from iRobot's own pages, and it isn't on sale in the UK. Still open: how much it actually picks up on carpet and along edges, whether the 15,000Pa claim makes a real difference over the Roomba 105, how well the laser map copes with a multi-room home, whether it really covers 83 square metres per charge, and how much the basic pad actually lifts.

Our take

Should you buy the Roomba 115 Combo?

Best for: Small, tidy flats needing regular vacuuming. Skip it if: You want a stronger record in independent tests before buying.

Wait for a completed review if dependable cleaning is the priority. The current description comes from iRobot, and a lower body or stronger suction claim cannot establish pickup or navigation quality. The Tapo RV30 Max Plus and Roborock Q7 M5 have independent tests, though both need clear floors and have simple mops.

The 115 Combo sits one step above the Roomba 105 Combo at the bottom of iRobot's range. It maps with a laser, vacuums, and wipes hard floors with a microfibre pad fed by a small water tank inside the robot. iRobot claims twice the suction of the 105 series, and at 7.89cm tall it is much lower, so it should reach under more sofas and beds.

iRobot says you can buy it with a plain charging dock or an AutoEmpty dock that empties the bin, and that the pad is washed by hand either way. It keeps the pad off rugs by steering round them rather than lifting it, so expect a light wipe for dust and footprints, not a fix for dried spills. Tests of the Roomba 105 Combo and older Combo models cover a different robot, and it isn't on sale in the UK.

Before you buy

The questions people ask about this one

Does it fit under low furniture?

It should fit under more than most. iRobot lists the robot at 7.89cm tall, per the specifications, much lower than the 10.4cm Roomba 105 Combo. Measure your lowest sofa or bed, and bear in mind nobody has yet checked how it copes underneath.

Does it work without Wi-Fi?

No. iRobot says a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network is needed for setup, per the specifications, and the maps, room cleaning and No Mop Zones all live in the app.

How often do I have to empty or refill it?

That depends on the dock. With the plain charging dock you empty the bin yourself, and the AutoEmpty dock does it for you, per iRobot. Either way, you refill the small water tank and wash the pad by hand.

Will it avoid cables and pet mess?

iRobot doesn't claim any camera-based obstacle avoidance for this model, per the specifications. Until tests show otherwise, pick up cables, socks and pet toys before it runs.

Why consider it: Mapped vacuuming and automatic emptying in a fairly compact package.
