QV 35S
2 independent reviewsRead the findings →A mid-range Roborock with a dock that empties the bin and washes and dries the mops. It's at its best on hard floors with a few low rugs. Thick carpet and heavy pet hair are where it falls short.

What reviewers found
Two home tests so far. Tom's Guide ran its standard pickup tests and then used it for a month, and Ideal Home ran it daily in a house with a dog. Both found it excellent on hard floors, sensible around rugs and weaker on carpet, especially with hair. They disagree on obstacle avoidance: Tom's Guide never saw it bump into anything, while Ideal Home watched it hit a dumbbell before learning to avoid it. An owner on An owner on Reddit adds a less happy first-week report about edges.

Hard floors
Reviewers rate it highlyIts strong suit. Tom's Guide found hardwood was where it excelled, picking up most cereal and seeds, and Ideal Home saw rice, flour and cereal cleared from hard flooring within a couple of minutes.
Carpet and rugs
Mixed resultsTom's Guide found it reliable on low-pile carpet with cereal and seeds but not with hair, and Ideal Home rated carpet cleaning fine for an everyday tidy. Deep rugs are where it falls behind.
Pet hair
Reviewers found problemsTom's Guide found it had a hard time lifting hair from carpet and wouldn't pick it for heavy shedders. Ideal Home also found it weaker with dog hair, though the pet-area deep-clean mode helped noticeably.
Mopping
Reviewers rate it highlyTom's Guide found muddy footprints easy and dried sauces gone after a few passes, with a little oily residue. Ideal Home felt the spinning pads cleaned more deeply than flat pads, and both saw rugs kept dry.
Navigation and obstacles
Mixed resultsMapping is quick for both testers. Tom's Guide never saw it bump into anything, while Ideal Home watched it hit a dumbbell before learning to avoid it. Neither tested pet mess, so clear the floor first.
Dock and upkeep
Reviewers rate it highlyIdeal Home barely had to touch it, with the dock emptying, refilling and washing the mops. Tom's Guide found little to do beyond the water tanks, though changing bags is fiddlier than emptying a bin.
App and software
Mixed resultsTom's Guide found Roborock's app easy, mapping three rooms in under five minutes. Ideal Home liked the customisation but found this app buggy, disconnecting and freezing at times, and confusing for newcomers.
Noise
Not enough evidenceOnly Tom's Guide judged noise, measuring around 55dB mopping and 60dB vacuuming, quiet enough to work or watch TV alongside.
Reliability and support
Not enough evidenceTom's Guide adds a month of home use, but it's from an outlet already counted here, so treat it as a useful follow-up rather than a long-term reliability record or a separate review. Ideal Home found replacement dust bags out of stock at the time. Neither outlet looked at support.
Value
Reviewers rate it highlyTom's Guide felt it performs above its price, and Ideal Home rated it on par with a same-priced Shark rival and a sensible cheaper pick than a pricier Eufy.
Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works
Hard floors are the strong suit
Tom's Guide found hardwood was where it excelled. It picked up most of the cereal and flax seed, though it crushed some puffed rice under its wheels on the first pass and flicked seeds around with the side brush before collecting them. Ideal Home scattered rice, flour, cereal and dog hair on hard flooring and found the area clear within a couple of minutes, with only the larger crushed cereal causing trouble. If your home is mainly wood, laminate or tile, this is the reassuring part.
Thick carpet and hair lag behind
On high-pile carpet, Tom's Guide reports it collected only 40% of the hair, 38.5% of the flax seeds and 72% of the cereal in its lab test. Ideal Home found carpet cleaning fine for an everyday tidy but weaker with dog hair, and got clearly better results using the app's pet-area deep cleaning mode around a dog bed. If you have deep rugs and a moulting pet, keep a proper vacuum to hand.
Testers split on obstacle avoidance
Tom's Guide never saw the front bumper used, and the robot even steered round people walking in its path. Ideal Home put a dumbbell in its way and watched it bump straight into it, then avoid it for the rest of the clean. Roborock describes the system as light-based rather than camera-based. Neither review reports a pet-mess test, so clear cables, socks and anything a pet might leave before a scheduled run.
Mopping handles everyday mess
Tom's Guide found muddy footprints easy work, and dried mayonnaise and soy sauce came up after a few passes, with a little oily residue left behind. Both Tom's Guide and Ideal Home saw it lift its mops over rugs so carpets stayed dry. Ideal Home felt the spinning pads cleaned more deeply than flat pads, but noted that Roborock's cleaning solution isn't in the box. Greasy spills may still need a wipe by hand.
The dock and app in practice
Ideal Home barely had to touch it: the dock emptied the bin, refilled the water and washed the mops, with cold-air drying taking six hours by default. The app was less smooth, disconnecting and freezing at times, and the reviewer felt it suits people who already know robot vacuums. Tom's Guide found the same app easy and mapped three rooms in under five minutes. An owner on An owner on Reddit liked the quiet running and mopping but was unhappy with pickup along cabinet edges after a week.
This covers the QV 35S. The lookalike QV 35A has a lower suction claim and isn't covered here.
Our take
Should you buy the QV 35S?
Best for: Homes with mostly hard floors and a few rugs. Skip it if: Pet hair embedded in carpet is your main cleaning problem.
buy it for mostly hard floors with a few low rugs, if you want the mopping and dock chores handled. With deep carpet or a heavy shedder, testers rate the Qrevo Edge 2 better on carpet.
The QV 35S sits in the middle of Roborock's range, sold as an upgrade on the Qrevo S with a higher suction claim. Its dock empties the bin, washes the two spinning mops and dries them with cold air, a spinning laser on top maps your home, and the mops lift on carpet. It isn't slim, the dock is big, and it uses disposable dust bags. Watch for the near-identical QV 35A, which has a lower suction claim.
Both home testers found it excellent on hard floors. Tom's Guide picked up most cereal and seeds from hardwood, and Ideal Home saw rice, flour and cereal cleared within a couple of minutes. Carpet and hair are the drawback. Tom's Guide collected only 40% of the hair from high-pile carpet and wouldn't pick it for heavy shedders, and Ideal Home found it weaker with dog hair, though the pet-area deep-clean mode helped. Both rated the mopping well, with Tom's Guide clearing muddy footprints and dried sauces after a few passes, and both saw rugs kept dry. The questions people ask about this one
Will it avoid cables and pet mess?
Don't count on it. Ideal Home saw it bump a dumbbell before learning to avoid it, while Tom's Guide never saw it touch anything. It relies on a light-based sensor rather than a camera, per the specifications, and neither review reports a pet-mess test. Clear cables and anything a pet might leave before it runs.
Does it fit under low furniture?
Only under fairly tall gaps. Roborock lists the robot at 3.8in (9.65cm) high, per the specifications, and the laser turret sits on top. Measure under your sofa and beds first; if the gap is under about 10cm, a slimmer robot without a turret is the better choice.
Can it cross rugs and raised thresholds between rooms?
Roborock claims it crosses thresholds up to 2cm, per the specifications, though the shape and approach matter too. Tom's Guide and Ideal Home saw carpet detection and mop lifting keep their test rugs dry. Check your own pile height before relying on that. Hair pickup on thick carpet was a weakness.
How big is the dock, and is it loud?
The dock is roughly 34cm wide, 49cm deep and 52cm tall, per the specifications, and you need extra space above it to lift the tanks out. Ideal Home found it bulky in a small dining room. The quiet running Tom's Guide describes is the robot's, so it doesn't tell you how loud the dock is while emptying, washing or drying.
How often do I have to empty or refill anything?
Ideal Home reports a claimed maximum of seven weeks for the dust bag. You still refill the clean-water tank, empty dirty water, clean the tray and check the brushes between bag changes. Tom's Guide found that water-tank routine fiddly. How often it needs doing depends on the area mopped and the washing settings.
QV 35S or QV 35A?
Tom's Guide points out a near-identical QV 35A on sale with a lower suction claim, 8,000Pa against 10,000Pa here. Check the exact model name on the listing before you pay, because everything on this page is about the QV 35S.
Alternatives
Other robot vacuums to compare.

Qrevo S
Why consider it: RTINGS found strong hard-floor pickup, effective mopping and a dock that handles the dull jobs.
The compromise: RTINGS also found it poor at avoiding socks, cables and pet waste, and weaker with carpet hair.

Qrevo Edge 2
Why consider it: Testers praise its carpet pickup and mopping, in a slimmer body.
The compromise: Obstacle avoidance is patchy, the onboard bin is small and threshold clearance is ordinary.

Qrevo Curv
Why consider it: Reviewers agree it's especially good on hard floors, with strong edge cleaning and mopping.
The compromise: Testers split on carpets and rugs, and it still misses too many small objects.
QV 35S head to head
Head to head
Roborock Qrevo S vs QV 35S
Our verdict: The QV 35S updates the Qrevo S with a higher advertised suction figure. Reviews of both describe good hard-floor pickup and weaker carpet-hair results, but no test here puts them side by side, so we can't say they clean equally well. Compare today's price, the included dock and accessories, and the warranty before choosing.
