For a mostly hard-floor home, consistent wet contact and a clean washing system are worth prioritising. In a mixed home, reliable rug boundaries and mop removal may matter more. Check whether the claimed lifting clearance is enough for your actual rugs, and whether the robot can complete a vacuum-only route without dragging a wet pad.
Price the permitted detergent, replacement roller or pads, bags and filters together. Emptying a dirty-water tank and scrubbing a tray remain manual jobs. During your trial, run a normal whole-home cycle and judge the final floor and total maintenance time rather than one dramatic stain demonstration.

Choose for your floor plan
Write down the proportion of carpet and hard floor, the height of door strips and the clearance under furniture. A powerful robot that cannot reach a room has little value there. Measure the complete dock footprint with room to open lids and remove water tanks, rather than using the robot diameter alone.
For mixed flooring, check how the exact model protects rugs: lifting, detaching or parking its mop are different solutions. Deep pile may still touch a raised wet pad. Test rug boundaries and transitions during the return period, and keep unsuitable surfaces excluded.
Cleaning evidence that matters
Look for pickup tests on comparable surfaces and longer-term reports about repeated missed areas. Fine dust, larger crumbs and embedded hair are separate challenges. A test on a bare floor does not establish carpet performance, while a high suction figure cannot show how well the brush maintains contact.
