What reviewers found
Vacuum Wars and RTINGS ran lab tests, while T3 and Tom's Guide used it at home. The spot cleaner went down well. The robot was less consistent: Vacuum Wars found strong carpet and stain results, while RTINGS found weaker pickup and stain removal. Both labs reported hair problems, and obstacle results varied too. So a good spot cleaner doesn't tell you much about how the floor robot will do in your home.

Hard floors
Mixed resultsT3 found it strong on hard floors, and Tom's Guide saw it clear kitty litter and pet hair from laminate. But Tom's Guide found it skipped clumps of cereal as if they were obstacles, and RTINGS found it weak along edges and in corners.
Carpet and rugs
Mixed resultsVacuum Wars measured excellent embedded-sand removal and Tom's Guide liked pickup on low pile. RTINGS found fine debris left behind and difficulty moving on plush carpet. Pile and test conditions differed, but none of the reviews explains why the results were so far apart.
Pet hair
Reviewers found problemsVacuum Wars found long hair rolled into dense clumps behind the brush, its worst result on that test, with only average pickup of flattened hair. RTINGS also rated it poorly for pet hair on carpet, though Tom's Guide had few problems on low pile.
Mopping
Mixed resultsVacuum Wars scored it well above average on dried stains and Tom's Guide found floors left shiny and not too wet. RTINGS found stain removal lacklustre because the robot doesn't linger over marks, so check stubborn patches afterwards.
Navigation and obstacles
Mixed resultsIt's better on bare floors than carpet. Vacuum Wars saw it avoid almost every object in its test, but RTINGS needed to rescue it often on carpet and found it snagged rug tassels, and Tom's Guide once found it wedged beside a toilet.
Dock and upkeep
Reviewers rate it highlyTom's Guide found the dock takes most of the grimy work out of vacuuming and mopping, and T3 found it low-maintenance with solid mop drying. It's bulky, Tom's Guide notes, and Vacuum Wars points out it doesn't wash the mop with hot water.
App and software
Not enough evidenceOnly Tom's Guide judged the app, finding plenty of customisation, from suction level to cleaning mode, no-go areas and schedules, all inside eufy's main app.
Noise
Not enough evidenceOnly Tom's Guide commented on noise, finding the dock loud for about ten seconds when emptying the robot, along with the spot cleaner.
Reliability and support
Not enough evidenceNone of the reviews we use has run it long-term or judged eufy's support. T3 and Vacuum Wars both wondered how well the plastic spot-cleaner hose will last.
Value
Not enough evidenceOnly T3 judged value, finding it well worth a look if you can buy it at a discount.
Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works
The spot cleaner earns its place
Vacuum Wars measured more suction than a Bissell Little Green and saw it lift pre-treated coffee and grape-juice stains as well as a fresh spill. Tom's Guide used it on a rug and a delicate sofa fabric and the stains came right out, though the head is only about three inches wide. T3 also found it works well. It's for spots and spills rather than whole carpets, and you work it by hand.
Carpet results are far apart
Vacuum Wars recorded 85% of embedded sand lifted from carpet, a top-eight result among over 200 robots. RTINGS found the opposite: lots of fine debris and pet hair left in carpet, weak edges and corners, and trouble moving on plush pile. On low-pile carpet, Tom's Guide saw good pickup of litter and hair. The thicker your carpet, the more weight we'd give the RTINGS result.
Long hair clogs the brush
In its seven-inch hair test, Vacuum Wars found long strands rolled into dense clumps behind the brush, the worst score it has recorded there. Its flattened pet-hair pickup was only average. RTINGS also rated it poorly for pet owners with carpet. If anyone at home has long hair, plan on checking and clearing the brush regularly.
Mopping: great or lacklustre
Vacuum Wars scored it 127 in its dried-stain test against an average of 93, and Tom's Guide found floors left shiny and not too wet. RTINGS called stain removal lacklustre because the robot doesn't linger over marks long enough. The roller does soak up wet spills rather than smearing them, per Vacuum Wars. Expect good routine mopping, and check stubborn patches afterwards.
Obstacles: fine on hard floors
Vacuum Wars saw it avoid 23 of 24 objects, among its best results. RTINGS found it avoided most things on bare floors but needed frequent rescuing on carpet, snagged rug tassels and pushed light furniture about. Tom's Guide saw it treat clumps of cereal as obstacles, and once it wedged itself beside a toilet. Tidy up and keep tasselled rugs out of its way.
Our take
Should you buy the Omni E28?
Best for: Homes with hard floors and fabric furniture that needs spot cleaning. Skip it if: You have low furniture or need strong pet hair pickup on carpet.
Consider the E28 if a small manual spot cleaner would be useful alongside a robot for mainly hard floors. The spot-cleaning tests were positive, but carpet pickup and robot mopping disagreed across labs, and long hair caused trouble. Do not assume the E25 package fixes those issues simply because its separate reviews were stronger. The S2 has better-supported carpet-hair results, but no detachable spot cleaner.
The E28 pairs the E25-style floor robot with a detachable spot cleaner housed in the dock. You use its hose, brush and spray head by hand on suitable upholstery, rugs and isolated spills. The floor robot has a self-rinsing roller, a raised mapping sensor and a front camera; the dock empties dust and washes and dries the mop. Its 11.1cm height limits low-furniture access, and the spot cleaner adds another hose and set of parts to clean.
All four testers liked the spot cleaner. Vacuum Wars measured more suction than a Bissell Little Green and saw it lift coffee and grape-juice stains, and Tom's Guide got stains out of a rug and a delicate sofa fabric. After that they split. Vacuum Wars recorded one of its best ever embedded-sand results from carpet and scored the mop well above average on dried stains, while RTINGS found lots of fine debris left in carpet, trouble moving on plush pile and lacklustre stain removal. Long hair is a clear weakness. Vacuum Wars found it rolled into dense clumps behind the brush, its worst result on that test, and RTINGS rated it poorly for pet hair on carpet. Vacuum Wars saw it avoid almost every obstacle, but RTINGS needed to rescue it often on carpet, and T3 and Vacuum Wars both wondered how long the plastic hose will last.

The questions people ask about this one
Can the spot cleaner replace a carpet spotter?
It worked well on small stains in testing, and Vacuum Wars removed pre-treated coffee and grape juice. Its measured suction beat a Bissell Little Green's, though that doesn't prove it cleans better on every fabric. Tom's Guide liked its rug and sofa results. Check the fabric's care label first, and remember the narrow head is for spots, not whole carpets.
Does it fit under low furniture?
Not very low furniture. eufy's support page gives the robot's height as 11.1cm, per the specifications, because of the laser turret on top. RTINGS found it skips areas under low furniture entirely, so measure your sofa gap first.
Will it avoid cables and pet mess?
Mostly, on hard floors. Vacuum Wars saw it dodge cords, shoes and pet waste, but RTINGS found it came dangerously close to pet waste and needed help on carpet. Don't leave it alone with a fresh accident.
Can it keep the mop off carpet?
Not completely. The roller lifts about 10.5mm rather than staying in the dock, according to Vacuum Wars, and that won't clear every carpet or rug edge. Set carpet avoidance for deeper pile the wet roller can't clear, and don't assume a no-mop setting stops it touching the carpet as it passes.
How big is the dock, and is it loud?
Big. Tom's Guide found it takes up a fair bit of floor space, and eufy recommends clear room either side. Emptying the robot into the dust bag was loud for about ten seconds, and the dock doesn't wash the mop with hot water, per Vacuum Wars.
How often do I have to empty or refill it?
The 3L dust bag is rated for up to 75 days, per the specifications. The robot's own bin is only 300ml, so Vacuum Wars found it goes back to empty more often. You'll top up clean water, tip out dirty water, and buy bags and detergent.
Alternatives
Other robot vacuums to compare.

Omni E25
Why consider it: Pick the E25 if you want the same kind of floor robot without the detachable spot cleaner.
The compromise: Its own reviews were stronger on hair in some tests, but that doesn't make the E28's hair problems go away.

Qrevo Curv
Why consider it: Lab and home tests agree it's excellent on hard floors, with strong edge cleaning and mopping.
The compromise: It misses small objects like cables and struggles to lift embedded hair from carpet.

Omni C28
Why consider it: Tests found strong carpet pickup, no tangles in a long-hair trial and a smaller dock.
The compromise: Obstacle avoidance was below average and its tall body limits what furniture it gets under.
