Feedback

What reviewers found

Three home tests, three very different verdicts. Woman & Home's tester loved it in a busy family semi, Kaden Watch recommends it for small homes after running it against a similar-sized SwitchBot, and T3 used it for six weeks and came away unconvinced. All three agree it gets into tight spots and that the wipe mop is for light cleaning. Pickup is where they split: Woman & Home found it handled everything, while T3 found it struggled on carpet.

T3, hands-on, Six weeks, Jul 2026 · Kaden Watch, hands-on, Apr 2026 (tested on the Roomba Mini + AutoEmpty (Japanese release)) · Woman & Home, hands-on, May 2026

  • Hard floors

    Mixed results

Woman & Home's tester found it cleared flour, granola and cat kibble from a kitchen floor with ease. Kaden Watch saw it pick up sand wherever it drove but leave more in corners than bigger Roombas, and T3 found suction merely adequate on hard floors.

  • Carpet and rugs

    Mixed results

The testers split. Kaden Watch found it lifted long hair and sand from carpet well, but T3 found it weak on carpet over six weeks of use.

  • Pet hair

    Mixed results

It picks hair up but tangles. Woman & Home's tester found it handled pet hair, with occasional tangles that took seconds to clear, while Kaden Watch found long hair wound round its single brush after the carpet test and some caught in the emptying port.

  • Mopping

    Mixed results

It's a disposable wipe for light cleaning. Woman & Home found it collects a surprising amount of dirt, but Kaden Watch says it suits daily dust rather than sticky marks, and T3 still saw stains after several passes.

  • Navigation and obstacles

    Reviewers rate it highly

Its small size is the point, and it works. Kaden Watch saw it slip round table legs, clean neatly round slippers and bump furniture far less than a SwitchBot rival, though thin cables stopped it, and Woman & Home found it reached tight spots and under beds.

  • Dock and upkeep

    Mixed results

Woman & Home's tester found upkeep mostly occasional nudges, but once found a cotton bud blocking the emptying without any alert. Kaden Watch found the dock very loud when emptying and saw hair caught in the port.

  • App and software

    Mixed results

Kaden Watch found the simple app easy for beginners and Woman & Home found it quick, if glitchy. T3 had the robot drop out of the app three times in six weeks, losing its map and schedule each time.

  • Noise

    Not enough evidence

Only Kaden Watch judged noise, finding the dock very loud when it empties and suggesting you avoid night-time runs in flats.

  • Reliability and support

    Not enough evidence

None of the reviews we use has run it long-term or judged iRobot's support. T3's repeated app dropouts over six weeks are the only sign so far.

  • Value

    Not enough evidence

None of the reviews we use clearly judged its value for money.

Verdicts come from independent, hands-on, finished reviews. An area needs at least two of them before we say more than “Not enough evidence”. We don't score robots ourselves. How this works

Gets where bigger robots can't

This is the whole point of the Mini, and all three testers saw it work. Woman & Home's tester found it reached tight spots and under beds in a cluttered semi. Kaden Watch watched it slip round side-table legs without the hesitation bigger robots show, and it cleaned a cluttered living room and kitchen of about 28 square metres in 30 minutes, though open areas take more passes. T3 calls the size a major advantage in a small home or flat.

Hard floors fine, carpet divides testers

Woman & Home found it cleared flour, sugar, granola, breadcrumbs and cat kibble from a kitchen floor with ease, and pet hair too. Kaden Watch saw it pick up sand wherever it drove, but leave more in corners than iRobot's bigger models, and it lifted long hair and sand from carpet well. T3 found suction adequate on hard floors but weak on carpet over six weeks. If your floors are mostly carpet, lean towards T3's verdict.

Long hair wraps the brush

There's one brush rather than iRobot's usual twin rubber rollers, and Kaden Watch found long hair wound round it after its carpet test, which had to be picked off. It also saw hair sometimes caught sticking out of the emptying port. Woman & Home's tester had occasional tangles that took seconds to clear, and once found a cotton bud blocking the emptying without any alert. If anyone at home has long hair, check the brush and port regularly.

The mop is a wipe

Mopping means a disposable wipe on a plate, with no water tank. Kaden Watch says it suits daily dust, not sticky marks or spills, and one wipe wasn't enough for that 28 square metre space. It did spot a thin rug and steer round it while mopping, where the SwitchBot drove straight on. T3 still saw stains after several passes. Woman & Home was more upbeat: it's just a textured wipe, but it collects a surprising amount of dirt, almost silently.

Short battery, loud dock, app dropouts

Woman & Home's tester had to recharge it halfway through mapping, found the battery drained faster than she'd like, and saw it sometimes head home mid-clean. T3 had it drop out of the app three times in six weeks, each time removing and re-adding the robot and losing the map and schedule. Kaden Watch found the dock very loud when it empties, and suggests avoiding night-time runs in flats.

Kaden Watch tested the Japanese version, which iRobot launched there before the UK and Europe.

Our take

Should you buy the Roomba Mini Robot Vacuum & Mop + AutoEmpty?

Best for: Small homes with low furniture and little space for a dock. Skip it if: You need a thorough clean of thick carpets or stubborn stains.

good for a small flat or a cluttered home with mostly hard floors, where squeezing under furniture and a tiny dock matter more than deep cleaning. The SwitchBot K11+ is the rival at the same tiny size, and the Roborock Q7 M5 is the full-size pick if you want stronger pickup.

The Roomba Mini is iRobot's smallest robot, roughly half the size of a normal Roomba at 9.2cm tall. It maps with a laser, vacuums with a single brush and mops by clipping on a disposable wipe, which it keeps off rugs. This version comes with a compact dock that empties the robot into a bag.

All three testers found it reached places bigger robots can't. Woman & Home's tester saw it get under beds in a cluttered semi, and Kaden Watch watched it slip round table legs and bump furniture far less than a SwitchBot rival. Pickup divides them. Woman & Home found it cleared flour, granola and cat kibble with ease, but T3 found suction merely adequate on hard floors and weak on carpet over six weeks. Kaden Watch found long hair wound round the single brush and caught in the emptying port, and found the dock very loud when it empties. The wipe suits light dust, and T3 saw stains left after several passes. Woman & Home's tester had to recharge it halfway through mapping, and T3 had it drop out of the app three times, losing its map each time.

Before you buy

The questions people ask about this one

Will it avoid cables and pet mess?

Partly. Kaden Watch found it recognised slippers and cleaned neatly round them, bumping furniture far less than the SwitchBot K11+, but it still stopped on thin cables. Woman & Home's tester checks the floor for charger cables before every run.

Does it fit under low furniture?

Better than almost anything. It's 9.2cm tall and 24.5cm across, per the specifications, and Woman & Home's tester found it reached tight spots and got under beds. Its narrow width matters as much as its height, so measure both the gap and the space between legs.

Can it cross rugs and raised thresholds between rooms?

Woman & Home saw it move between rugs, tiles and thresholds without fuss. In mop mode it steers round rugs, per the specifications, and Kaden Watch saw it avoid a rug about 5mm thick. Vacuuming carpet is its weak spot, according to T3.

How big is the dock, and is it loud?

It's 21.2cm deep, 17.8cm wide and 28.5cm tall, per the specifications, small enough for a corner. Kaden Watch found emptying very loud and suggests not running it at night in a flat.

How often do I have to empty or refill anything?

iRobot claims up to 90 days between bag changes, per the specifications. There's no water to refill: you fit a fresh wipe each time it mops, and Kaden Watch used one per room. Hair still needs clearing from the brush and emptying port, as Kaden Watch advises.

Does it work without Wi-Fi?

It can start a clean from its button, and T3 notes it doesn't need a Wi-Fi connection to begin. You'll want the app for maps and schedules, and T3 lost those three times when the robot dropped out of it.

SwitchBot K11+

K11+

Why consider it: Almost the same tiny size, with one of the smallest self-emptying docks around.

The compromise: Its mop is also a wet wipe, and the main tests disagree sharply on how well it vacuums.

Omni C20

Why consider it: Slim enough for low furniture, with a dock that empties the bin and washes proper mop pads.

The compromise: It's a full-size robot with a much bigger dock, and it can't see small obstacles.

Roborock Q7 M5 / M5+

Q7 M5 / M5+

Why consider it: A budget mapping vacuum that lifts pet hair far better than its price suggests.

The compromise: You empty the bin yourself, and it bumps into clutter.
