What are the best window-cleaning robots in the UK?
A window-cleaning robot makes most sense if you have large panes that take time to wipe by hand. Measure your windows first, then compare cleaning results and the effort of moving the robot between panes.
Buying in your market: United Kingdom
Count individual panes, not just total window area. Divided windows, handles and narrow sections can create repeated manual moves. Compare total setup time with an ordinary squeegee or window-cleaning service, and verify an accessible tether arrangement before ordering.
Compare UK offers in pounds for the exact model, dock and accessories. Confirm whether the displayed total includes VAT and delivery, and check the seller’s return terms. A euro or US-dollar listing is not a UK price, even if international shipping appears possible.
For an imported model, verify the supplied plug, service destination and responsibility for return shipping. Prices shown are dated research records and can change. Unknown local stock remains unknown rather than being inferred from a manufacturer’s global launch.
Comparison at a glance
| Model | Evidence summary | Local offer |
|---|---|---|
| ECOVACS WINBOT W2S OMNI | The first owner report is upbeat; too soon to say how it holds up long term. | £409.21 |
| HOBOT S7 Pro | Useful for maintaining large or hard-to-reach panes, but not a replacement for manual cleaning. Reviewers consistently like the secure grip and routine cleaning while criticising the noise, slow pace and need for supervision. | No verified local price in our records |
| HOBOT S6 Pro | Useful as a labour-saving window robot, but verified owner feedback is much less polished than the marketing. It can do most of the work, yet perfect glass still needs manual finishing. | No verified local price in our records |
| ECOVACS WINBOT W3 OMNI | One of the better window-cleaning robots for large glass, especially because the station cleans the pad for you. It saves real effort, but it is heavy, expensive and still not a completely hands-off cleaner. | No verified local price in our records |

Will it fit your windows?
Measure each separate pane, not the whole window frame. Check handles, deep frames and anything else that could block the robot. A compact body can help, but the minimum working area in the manual matters more than the product photograph.
ECOVACS specifies a minimum window size of 30 × 40cm and glass at least 3mm thick for the W2S OMNI. Those figures belong to that model. Do not apply them to another WINBOT or assume textured, coated or damaged glass is suitable.
Count the panes you would need to move it between. A set of large patio doors is a more promising job than dozens of tiny panes. You still need to reach the glass to attach and remove the robot.
What the reviews tell us
TechRadar’s W2 Pro Omni review reported good cleaning and found it coped with frameless surfaces and limited turning space. That is evidence for the W2 Pro Omni, not a test of the newer W2S or W3.
Its separate Hobot S7 Pro review was more qualified: lightly dirty glass came up well, but tougher outdoor grime left streaking. We would weigh that limitation more heavily if exposed patio doors are your main reason for buying.
Look at the edges and at the glass once it has dried. A machine can cover the whole pane and still leave marks. A clean pad and the correct amount of approved fluid are part of the job, so include pad changes when judging how much effort you will save.
A portable station is useful, but you still supervise
A battery station can save you finding a socket beside each window. It does not mean the robot is untethered or ready to be left alone. Check cable reach, where the station can stand and the maker’s instructions for securing the safety tether.
Backup power is another detail to check: on some machines it keeps the robot attached after a power interruption rather than running a normal clean. Follow the exact manual if it warns about power loss.
Do not lean out of a window to place or retrieve it. If you cannot reach and secure it safely, a professional cleaner is the more useful comparison.
When we would buy one
We would consider one for repeated cleaning of large, compatible panes where wiping by hand is tiring. We would be less tempted for a handful of easy-to-reach windows, where getting out a squeegee may be quicker than setting up the robot.
Before keeping it, time one complete job: setup, cleaning, moving it between panes, rinsing pads and touching up marks. Buy it for the work it takes off your hands, not the promise that you will never clean glass again.
Are window-cleaning robots worth it?
A window robot is worth considering when you have enough compatible glass to offset setup, pad changes and finishing. Time the whole task, including moving between panes and cleaning pads afterwards. Automatic travel alone is not the same as hands-free window cleaning.
For small divided windows, manual cleaning may remain quicker. For difficult exterior access, compare a professional service rather than assuming a robot solves the access problem. Buy only if you can place, tether, supervise and retrieve it according to the manual.
Window robots for frameless glass
Frameless-glass compatibility must be stated for the exact robot and operating conditions. Edge sensing, minimum pane size and the approved tether arrangement all matter. Do not generalise from one model in a brand’s range to another.
Inspect seals, gaps, coatings and nearby obstructions, and check whether the glass is vertical and within the permitted specification. Follow the manufacturer’s exclusions for textured, damaged or treated surfaces. If the manual is ambiguous, obtain support confirmation rather than experimenting at height.
