Automower Aspire R6V
Limited evidenceRead the findings →Husqvarna's entry-level wire-free Automower for small lawns, with a camera for obstacles. It suits a small, simple garden with strong Wi-Fi everywhere. It can't reach tight corners, so expect to strim round patios and raised beds.

What we know
T3 ran it in a medium-sized garden with bumps and slopes and gave it 5 out of 5, praising the easy setup, the editable map and the camera, though it couldn't reach every tight corner. An owner on Owner on Reddit, a week in, liked the quiet, even cut but found docking fiddly and never saw the edge pass they'd switched on. It needs Wi-Fi across the whole lawn for its satellite corrections.
T3, hands-on, Jul 2026 (Tested in a medium-sized garden with bumps, slopes and raised beds)
Easy setup, editable boundaries
T3 mapped the garden by driving the mower round the edge in the app and dropping virtual pins at each corner. The big win was how easy the map is to change afterwards. A boundary can be moved by a few inches, and the tester kept fine-tuning edges for days to improve coverage. Curved borders need extra pins, because the mower joins them with straight lines and otherwise leaves bits of the curve uncut.
Handles bumps, misses tight corners
The T3 lawn has plenty of bumps and slopes, and the R6V tackled them confidently without getting stuck or digging into the grass. Complicated layouts were harder. Around patios, raised beds and awkward protruding sections that need very sharp turns, it couldn't always reach every corner, so the tester still strimmed every couple of weeks. If your lawn is a simple shape, that matters much less.
The camera spots most obstacles
In the T3 test, the camera consistently spotted low-hanging branches inside the mowing zone and steered round them, reacting to objects around 5–10cm away. The tester says they hadn't met every kind of obstacle yet. An owner on Owner on Reddit found the camera occasionally missed a narrow tree, so it's still worth protecting young trees and clearing small items before it runs.
Docking and edges in week one
Docking sometimes took two or three attempts to line up for an owner on Owner on Reddit. A boundary drawn too close to a wall led to repeated interventions, and with the edge-pass option switched on they still didn't see the edge pass they expected. T3 reports roughly three hours of charging for around two hours of mowing, while Husqvarna quotes 200 minutes of charging for 100 minutes of mowing.
What's not checked yet
Both accounts had good Wi-Fi: T3 had strong coverage across a medium-sized garden, and the owner on Owner on Reddit had an outdoor hotspot. So the open questions are how it behaves when the signal fades at the far end of a lawn, how reliable it is over a full season, how it mows in rain, and how it copes with a lawn near the 600m² limit.
Our take
Should you buy the Automower Aspire R6V?
Best for: Small, fairly flat lawns with a clear view of the sky. Skip it if: Wi-Fi does not reach all parts of your lawn.
suits a small, simple lawn with strong Wi-Fi to the far corner, for someone who wants a big-name mower without laying wire. For crisper edges the Husqvarna Automower 305E NERA trims close to the border, and if you would rather not rely on Wi-Fi the wired Aspire R4 is simpler.
The Aspire R6V is the entry to Husqvarna's wire-free range, rated for lawns up to 600m². Instead of a buried wire it follows boundaries you set in the app, using satellite positioning with corrections sent over your home Wi-Fi. A front camera spots obstacles and helps it keep going under trees. There is no built-in mobile connection, no edge disc, and the cutting height is set by hand.
T3 ran it in a medium-sized garden with bumps and slopes and gave it five out of five, praising the easy setup, the editable map and the camera, though the mower could not reach tight corners. Wi-Fi has to reach the whole lawn, a dealer can fit a mobile kit at extra cost, and Husqvarna quotes about twice as long charging as mowing.

The questions people ask about this one
Does it need a boundary wire?
No. You drive it round the lawn and drop virtual pins in the app, as T3 did, and it follows those boundaries using satellite positioning the specifications. Add extra pins on curved borders, or it joins them with straight lines and leaves bits uncut.
Does it need a clear view of the sky?
It needs Wi-Fi across the whole lawn the specifications, and Husqvarna says the camera keeps it going where satellite reception is weak. T3 had strong coverage and no trouble. None of the reviews we use tested it on patchy Wi-Fi; Husqvarna's fixes are a dealer-fitted mobile kit or a reference station.
Will it cope with my slope?
Husqvarna rates it for 40% inside the lawn and 15% at the boundary the specifications. The T3 garden has plenty of bumps and slopes, and it coped without getting stuck or digging into the lawn. None of the reviews we use has tested it near the rated maximum.
How close does it cut to the edge?
Not right up to it. T3 still strimmed every couple of weeks around patios, raised beds and sharp corners. An owner on Owner on Reddit switched on the edge-pass option but didn't see the edge pass they expected, and a boundary too close to a wall caused repeated interventions.
Will the neighbours hear it?
Husqvarna quotes 63 dB(A) the specifications, louder on paper than the 430V NERA's 56 dB(A). Even so, an owner on Owner on Reddit described the mowing as very quiet. None of the reviews we use has measured it independently yet.

Automower Aspire R4
£130 less than the Automower Aspire R6V
Why consider it: A home tester found the cut superb and the app clever, and a boundary wire doesn't depend on Wi-Fi.
The compromise: The wire takes hours to lay, and a lab test marked it down on uneven ground.

Automower 305E NERA
£635.17 more than the Automower Aspire R6V
Why consider it: Leaves a superb finish, edges included, on lawns up to 900m².
The compromise: It finds obstacles by bumping into them, and also needs Wi-Fi and open sky across the lawn.

i1 series (i105E, i105N, i108E, i110N)
£206.50 less than the Automower Aspire R6V
Why consider it: Four reviewers liked its tidy striped cut and easy app on lawns up to 800m².
The compromise: It leaves a strip at the edges, and its aerial needs open sky.

YUKA mini (500, 600, 700, 800)
Why consider it: Three reviewers got a neat, straight-line cut and good obstacle spotting.
The compromise: Soft or wet ground makes it slip and scuff the grass.
