What reviewers found
Three home tests: TechRadar over a fortnight, Trusted Reviews over a few weeks and MacRumors over several months. All three rate the roller mop highly and all three found the robot loud. On almost everything else they split: how well it avoids objects, whether it gets lost on the way home, how it copes with doorway thresholds and how much a damp roller spoils vacuuming. Trusted Reviews was the most positive overall and TechRadar the most critical.

Mopping is the reason to buy
Trusted Reviews called its hard-floor results excellent and rated the roller one of the best mid-range mopping systems it had tried. TechRadar found it cleared spilt soy milk rather than spreading it, though the roller took most of a large kitchen to soak through. Dried ketchup split them: MacRumors got it off in two passes, while TechRadar saw little change after one. Expect regular runs to keep hard floors fresh, and a second go for anything dried on.
Vacuum first, then mop
TechRadar ran its first hard-floor vacuum test straight after a mopping session, and the damp roller left oats, lentils and tea all over the kitchen. With a dry roller, most of the mess went first time. Neither TechRadar nor MacRumors found a mop-only mode, so in practice you schedule vacuuming before mopping, never after. Trusted Reviews called the vacuum-then-mop mode a handy addition, and that's the one to use.
Carpet needs the top setting
Trusted Reviews found carpet pickup effective on maximum suction but much weaker a notch lower, with surface fluff gone and deeper dirt left behind. TechRadar's carpet test in Strong mode left some tea, and a pass on Max cleared most of what remained. MacRumors never saw hair or fur tangle the brush. Run carpeted rooms on the top setting, and accept that it's the loudest mode and drains the battery fastest.
Good eyes, erratic routes
TechRadar saw it dodge a cable and a shoe, then take a long way round a coffee table, but it also pushed a tissue box across the room and often failed to dock in the evenings. Trusted Reviews found its object labels frequently wrong, yet it still avoided socks, pet bowls and cables and missed no areas. Over at MacRumors, it avoided cords almost entirely but swallowed a cat toy and a sock. Watch the first few runs before leaving it alone.
Loud, especially the dock
Every tester flagged the noise. TechRadar called the auto-empty the loudest it had heard from any robot vacuum and found the mopping drone grating. Trusted Reviews described a roar when the bin empties and a shrill vibration during refills. MacRumors couldn't sleep or work through the vacuuming, even on the quieter setting. If the dock lives near a bedroom or home office, run it when nobody's in there.
Trusted Reviews and MacRumors tested the S20 with its standard tank dock. The Auto-Fill & Drain version uses the same robot with a plumbed-in dock.

Should you buy the S20?
Best for: Homes where washing hard floors is the main job. Skip it if: You need it to clean quietly while you work or rest nearby.
buy the S20 if your floors are mostly tile or wood, you want better mopping than flat pads without flagship money, and nobody needs quiet while it runs. The eufy Omni E25 also has a self-rinsing roller with a stronger record on pet hair, and the Omni C28 is the cheaper roller-mop option for tidy homes.
The S20 replaces the S10 as SwitchBot's main floor robot. Instead of spinning pads it has a roller mop fed with clean water while a scraper takes the dirty water away, and the dock empties the bin, dries the roller and handles the water. It comes with tanks you fill yourself or with a kit that plumbs the dock into your pipes. At 11.5cm tall it will not reach under low sofas.

Will it avoid cables and pet mess?
Cables, mostly yes: TechRadar, Trusted Reviews and MacRumors all saw it steer round cords. Small soft things are less certain, as MacRumors had it swallow a sock and a cat toy. None of the three tested pet mess, so don't rely on it for that.
Does it fit under low furniture?
Only where the gap is generous. SwitchBot lists the robot at 11.5cm tall, per the specifications, and Trusted Reviews called it bulky next to rivals under 8cm. Measure under your sofa and bed first; this isn't a robot for low clearances.
Can it cross rugs and raised thresholds between rooms?
SwitchBot claims it crosses 2cm, per the specifications, and TechRadar thought it managed a little more, getting over every threshold in the end. MacRumors had it stuck on a taller bathroom threshold, retrying until the battery ran out. On rugs, Trusted Reviews found the mop lifted and the water stopped.
How often do I have to empty or refill anything?
With the tank dock, Trusted Reviews topped up the 2.7-litre clean tank every few days and warned that the dirty tank smells if you leave it. The dust bag is rated for about 90 days, per the specifications. The plumbed version fills and drains itself.
Does it work with Apple Home?
Yes, for the basics. MacRumors used Siri to send it to vacuum or mop a named room, but still needed the SwitchBot app for maps and maintenance. Trusted Reviews says Matter needs a SwitchBot Hub and currently works with Apple Home only, while Alexa and Google Assistant are supported directly.
